i Happened to have read this whole thread and you did find someone with the key but he clearly said i am not selling it it would be unethical blah blah .......... i want to buy to S/c for my 05 and was wondering is it gonna come with this BS?

i have the bolt. i bought the s/c later on. its on an 06. i just notice that the dumaas that put it on didn't even center the pulley. my belt squeaks when the car is just started up. im really tempted to put the nst pulley on but im afraid it will mess my s/c up.

i just read this thread. and realized its gonna be a b!tch to get off.
i saw the key and have no idea where to get it. im tempted to try the "weld on the new bolt head" method and get the damn bolt off. but im a little concerned with that. if i cant find a method to get it off by the time 4-5k miles are on the s/c i might be tempted to resell the pulley.

Ok, well since I got in on the group buy, and I have a 07 I have been trying to do some research.
A) the key IS MADE by McGard, who ever posted that before, this is 100% correct. I had a rep call me back, after I sent over some Hi-res pics. They were fully aware of "why" the tamper proof is on there.
B) Jeff, from McGard (800) 444-5847 x 2321 is a lead technician over there. The key he stated, can ONLY be ordered from TRD, direct to a dealership. The key MUST BE RETURNED to TRD as well. This is not something that they can keep at the dealership - and you damned sure cant just "order" one up.
- What I am thinking of doing is to see if I can use an idea to make an impression of the pattern on the bolt, and the depth. This would be done kinda like how they make a mold of your teeth for braces. Then Id have to have a locksmith re-create the key from the mold (reverse engineering). I am also talking to a machinist on my streetbike forums who may be able to help.
IF I have to lay out a BUTTLOAD of money to get this done (up to $250-300) I will. I would also let people use this key, but I would charge a large paypal fee upfront, and 90% of that would be refunded upon reciept back of the key. (shipping, time, and my initial usage of money). We all need to come up with an idea(s) and try to work as a group on this one.
I am not doing this to try to get one over on scion and trd, but I am NOT welding something on the end of the bolt, ruining any balance, or shaving any metal off of this peice and hacking it all to hell. The tC was made for customization, but now scion wants to limit what can be done to the car.

it's an aftermarket type thing, almost all of the s2000's that i've seen at shows and stuff have that key so people don't steal their expencive seats
they use special bolts that hold the seat down so you can't just jump in and grab the seats..

Ive read every single post in this thread and i am stumped and frustrated just like everyone else. I dont have a supercharger but I will be getting one shortly. I would say try to get a custom key made for the lock. I just hope when i get my supercharger I dont have this lock on mine, cause i want to put the 9.5 psi pulley on. If anyone could get a key made to get the bolt off, I bet you could make some pretty good money selling the key to other people with the same problem. Im just throwin this out there im not sure it would work but talk to a company that makes sockets and get alot of people with the same problem and try to see if they would make you a key to fit it. maybe they would start producing the key so the public would be able to purchase it, who knows, I have no clue. It was just an idea im not sure how feasible it is but I was just throwing a idea out there.
If you could get the S2000 seat key that would be awsome. For the fact that it would solve the problem and release our frustration.

they won't release it, the thing about those keys is that they are used for super secret type locks. like airplane ____. and expensive crap.
i'm not gonna do it, no point for me to haha sombody else do it.
