I was looking to getting sc for my 07 and found this thread. I could probably machine this out of aluminum on a CNC Router so that the key would fit inside of a socket(3/4"?)
The only problems would be that I would first need a mold, or a high-res picture(must be dead on parallel with face of bolt though) The other problem would be that it would have to be R&D because it might take a few tries to get it exactly right, and I don't have a bolt to check it with. Also if the curves are too tight(less than 1/8") this can't be done on a router.

Those pictures are crap(for the purpose I would need them), plus I have no idea how big the bolt is. The best way to get a measurement would be to get a set of calipers inside the widest rounded part of key.

I will be able to in a few months once I have my stuff back.
When they installed my newest charger, they put the bolt on.

(I dont mind tho. Loosing the warranty on the supercharger is a bad thing. I cant imagine if I had to pay for all these that I am going through)

Although this may sound silly, you may want to take a wax casting (mold) of it, and see if someone can use the mold to cast a cylinder with the wax mold as the end of it, then CNC a 3/8" or 1/2" square opening in the cylinder to create a one-off socket for it.

If it fits :-) you can use it as a starting point to make another one that is stronger (unless the first one doesn't break...). Besides, wax is cheap, and it should be interesting...

The only downside is if it is one of the types of bolts that have a head that will only allow the socket to grip it in the "on" direction. But this one doesn't look that way.

Just a thought...

I didn't see the post - I only read the first page or two, and the thread was still active, so the comment was made under the assumption that the issue had not been resolved.

Thank you for your clarification regarding the bolt extraction procedure, riceeater.

You could also weld a socket onto the end of the bolt to remove it. That is a common trick as well (assuming you have access to a fire wrench).

The bolt is a McGard Intimidator bolt, Pep Boys carrys the tools from McGard necessary to remove the bolt (as well as some other parts stores) but I am not sure of the exact size. Has anyone ever found out which size tool it is?

The link here shows all different types and sizes and I want to know if anyone has tried any?

The way to take this bolt off is to shave down 2 of the sides, put some locking pliers on it ...and break off the locktight and the 35lbs it was put on with. Dont chisel it - just shave down 2 sides and give it a good turn - simple as that

If you have a death grip like me use vise grips and get them as tight as possible and tap it free with a hammer. I have done this several times for bolts that were giving me issues.

lol. if you look back a couuuple pages you can see that i mentioned that but nobody listened.

i even went as far to get a key but nobody said anything so i never went any furhter than being able to obtain it.

Just grind down 2 sides of the bolt - put clamps on it -- pop that thread lock dab they have on it (cause its not just the 25lbs of torque its on with) ......done.
