Its a Torx TR or Security Torx. But yes he did actually. but you all jumped the gun and said no. All Torx are not the same. The manufacturer has several in their line up.
Be happy TRD went cheap and didn't opt for the torx plus.

Actually I was going to tell them the exact bit size a while ago (see like pg 2 of this thread) where i asked them to snap a better pic and provide exact dimensions. but nobody did, nobody wants to work for a solution. and i totally forgot about it.
You still need to figure out the size, all you have right now is the equivalent of "i need a metric socket"..you need to know the dimensions. but that is not rocket science.

hey if that is the right torx bit there just use a 1/4 socket attachment with a ratchets and that should come right off. make sure to use some wd-40 to get the bolt a lil looser first tho.

What do you need ... to know the size of the inside? What types of stores have these? I have off tomorrow and can try to get the right one at a local shop if someone gives examples of places that have them. Im freakin excited now. I want that darn pulley off my car and my new one on

That'd be nice and all, but using a Torx would be like sticking two male end connections together. When I can get my photobucket up and running again I will post a pic to clear this up.

now do you guys see the problem with using a Torx... the torx has protruding lobes with a hollow center... This bolt does not.

Ya, I should have posted a pic of what it is exactly, sorry guys. I knew it wasnt a Torx though, but what it is im still not sure of? Ive sent a e-mail to a couple suppliers of tamper resistant merchandise to see if they can answer our question of what it is.

ive been looking for the past hour

and i found 3 differnet bolts that resemble it

but aren't.

also. im begining to think that toyota is using an idea primarily used in the UK and britain...because these shapes are generally seen in UK automobiles and such...but not japanese. i havn't seen a single mention of a japanese vehicle with it.

the three tools are

the tx star bit
the trx star bit
the xzn spline bit

all three come in security key form and resemble the bolt VERY VERY close. but of course missing a key element

also.

could be a modified torx plus

boredem. whats it do hahah
