Treadstone, Honeycomb MAF Airflow Straightener
#21
Does anyone know if this would improve the accuracy of a tune on an APR X1 on a draw through set up? Obviously it won't do any thing for a heatsoaked MAF, but I've been wondering if the air passing through my MAF is excessively turbulent because of its close location to my filter:
There should be room in the pipe to squeeze one of these straighteners in before the MAF right?

Well like an idiot I ordered the wrong application so it'll be a while till I can inform you guys on the performance of this maf adapter with honeycomb insert.
I misread the descriptions on the page and bought the Denso style instead of the Bosch style. I was looking forward to getting it installed oh well I'll be calling treadstone today to get it sorted out.

Well nobody can say for sure unless you test it on a dyno and see the difference with it or with out. How's the car running now?

Batman I think you would have to move the maf backward a little. From your picture the honeycomb would be to close to the filter.
But I could be wrong only way to find out is to give it a go and test it out.
That's cool I'm on the FIC running a maf tune due to defective map sensor but it works like a charm.

A air flow straightener will help out in any instance, it will clean up the fuel trim curves and make them more linear. Every aspect of engines response will benefit from one, be it small or large changes. You probably will never notice "seat of the pants feel" but fuel efficiency will def increase....

I called about ordering one in a 2.5 inch and was told to purchase a larger one and cut it down with a band saw... is this my only option? Thank you

Hmm my advice is order what you prefer. A good fabricator should be able to weld the honeycomb into the pipe with little or no issue. Modifying it will add more delay time to having it installed. That's just my two cents. You can always consult other shops for advice in ex. Ptuning, Dezod,Descendant, not saying treadstone is wrong but getting other opinions can help you out.

Just to update I'm having some shipping issues so I have to talk to ups about my parcel and hopefully within the week or so I can have everything installed and probably upload a small video of idle afr, cruising,WOT pulls.

Does this provide a different concept of effective air flow, then say the intake tornado? Based on the concept of allowing air to flow smoothly into the intake instead of just tumbling...
