ok where to start

Started at 8am. Started with the basics. Drained the oil, took off the S pipe, Dropped the pan, Then went up top and Took off the bumper, headlights, intake, header, battery.

Dropped in the turbo. Problem #1. The turbo is resting against the fan. There is a small part in the fan blades. Not good. Cant clock the turbo because it will hit the engine mount. So I had to modify the radiator brackets. Drill mew holes and cut off those stems. Fixed that.

Next the oil line feed. Problem #2 The part that screws into the block isn't tapered. So it wont thread right. Went out to 3 places to find one tapered. No luck. So we had to make it work. Just threaded it in. Very tight.

Next up the oil return line. Drilled out the pan, Put on the return fitting. Tightened it. Cleaned it up and put it back on. Filled up the oil and the fitting is leaking. Very very slow leak. So now I have to drain it and try to tighten it even more or just weld it.

OK I knew we had to cut the bumper brace. Held up the Intercooler, marked it. Started the trimming. Not to bad.
Now we had to figure out how to mount it since there isn't any hardware or brackets. So we drilled a big hole on the top of the bumper brace and a smaller one below it. Dropped a bolt and a few washers in and bolted up the intercooler that way. Worked great. very strong.

Now for the intercooler pipes. Intake fit fine. Once again no brackets. Made up a L bracket. Works perfect. Mounted up the Cold side pipe to the throttle body. Fits good also.
Now the next part of the cold side to the intercooler. Also fit great.
Then came the hot side to the turbo exit. This was a pain to get the coupler on the turbo. Very tight. To get the pipe on was even worse. Since the turbo is so close to the fan it wont just slide in. After fighting it for 10min I got it in. Now is where I wanted to walk away from this all. Problem #4 The coupler is really close to the oil return line. It pretty much sits on the coupler. So to get a clamp on it was impossible. So we had to remove the pipe. Put the clamp on first, get it past the return line then put the pipe back on. That took 30min. I wanted to kill someone. That ruined my day.

After all that everything fit right up to the intercooler. I was happy to see something line up.
Now I have to go back and fix the hot side pipe. It is hitting the crossmember. Not sure how yet. I'll update that tomorrow.

Installed the new plugs. No problems here. I didn't do the injectors yet. Tomorrow I will work on that.

Primed the turbo for oil. Started it. Fired right up. Idled fine.
Small oil leak from the T fitting from the block. Easy fix. Started it again. Let it idle for a while.
Problem #5 The A/C line is about 1/4" from the Downpipe. Not good. That gets very hot and could melt the line. So another fix for tomorrow before I can roadtest it.

If anyone has a turbo kit. Any kit. Is your A/C line also close? if so how did you fix it? Heat wrap?

OK problem #6!! We wanted to test fit the bumper, Just to see if the intercooler was going to fit. We tried to line up the bumper. Here is the best part. The Intercooler pipes hit the bumper. They hit were those fake vents are on the side. So now I also have to cut up my bumper to make it fit.
I don't mind because I think it will look pretty cool but i wasn't aware of this before i bought the kit.

So overall its a pain. A lot of fabbing brackets and cutting.
Nothing the average person can do in there driveway with a 200 piece cfraftsman tool set.

More tomorrow. I should be driving it. I hope.

man, sounds like the bolt-on kit is not so bolt-on. i would never hack a new car to fit a turbo system. this kit seems like it was slapped together and not really tested. looks like tons of stuff were over-looked.

it ins't a 100% complete kit. It is a bolt on kit but you wont be able to drive it like that.

Some brackets would of been nice on the intercooler pipes.
I hate cutting stuff on a new car. Now I cant put it back to stock.
I'm sure I'll be happy once I drive it.
