well, i'm not at turbo savvy as everybody here, but whe i was building my dream kit, i wanted, standalone EMS, quick spooling ball-bearing turbo, an intercooler that didn't require cutting the front crash bar, piping that didn't require trimming the bumper, reliability, and great fitment. second to that was appearance when you open the hood. also, having a good blowoff valve like the hks ssqv.

Todd, I think there are so many variables to what each person wants, that a price would vary per person
Of course it is..........the reason for this post

i think anything like (yes im gonna say it) a similar thing like a zpi stage 1 kit would be nice but with some small enhancements..

NOW THIS IS NOT MY DREAM KIT BUT THIS IS A MORE REALISTIC KIT FOR ALOT OF PPL INCLUDING NOOBS.... affordable, reliable, simple....more sellable in the long run

for small boost 220-260 whp i think is a nice start....optional add ons for 300+ whp..

-16g-18g or compatable t3/t4 turbo (spooling at 2.5 to 3k rpms)
-tial wastegate 38mm ( choice of spring!)
-greddy or tial or hks BOV ( all are about the same price range more or less buyer choice)
-fmic + good 2.5 mandrel bent piping + intake piping for turbo and maf sensor
-nice log or (optional upgrade ramhorn manifold)
-a good down pipe to the exhuast is nice also(FK an SPIPE that can be tackled later on)
-oil feed lines and oil return lines with nice fittings (buyer should tap his own pan or have an optional OIL PAN TAPPED with fitting as an add on purchase)
-AEM fic or Emanage Ult. as an option to add to the price + harness for ems

roughly thats what i would like or atleast what i think is realistic for the price range people might want... $$3k or less would be nice.. $$2.5 would be fkn HOT....

No, really, I think it should be priced at about $3K WITH management. and it shoudl include the AEM F/IC with a decent tune as it is the best piggyback available.
It shoudl also ahve 650 drop in injectors that dont' require splicing wires. 2.5" dp and spipe
3" intake with AEM DryFlow filter
tial WG with choice of spring
choice of trim and AR on garrett turbo
choice of BOV
IC with no cutting to allow for pipes.
t-bolts all around (even on the filter!)
steal braided oil lines
a pre-tapped oild pan!
everything coated black, and a nice tubular EL mani

did I just describe my turbo kit to a T?

I think it should put down 250whp at 6 psi and be good for 400whp at 12 psi or so.

3k with management is kinda harsh... between EMS and a harness that about 500-700 bucks.. so now your left with 2500 to 2200 to play with.. its doable but i would imagine its a very basic kit simple kit to get you roughly 220-240/250 whp which in not bad at all!

lets be realistic ppl and not make his anus as wide as a hippos lol...

i think 2k to 2.5k price range is a good range to start with give or take optional parts...

btw todd, i really think it is neat that your taking the time to try and develop a new turbo kit with the input of the boosting enthusiasts of scionlife.

i'd love to help you out more, maybe try developing a kit for a niche that doesn't have a dedicated kit for yet. you and dezod and greddy and turbonetics all offer stage one kits, you have your GT and autocross kit, and stage 2 and 3 kits. you just released your basik kit that takes the place of the zpi stage 0 kit.

what about a kit that is more of a DIY kit that gives the buyer a greater choice of manifold styling, turbo charger choices, piping diameter, intercooler sizing, engine management and so on. kind of like a signature kit that goes a step further for the really dedicated turbo enthusiast who wants a whole ala carte turbo kit.

RELIABILTY

I love this one....

So If I build you a kit with the best parts out there.....

And you either go cheap on the tuning/ managment parts or decide to get a boost controller and turn up the boost without a retune etc

Is it my fault the kit is not "reliable"?

I expected to get "budget" replies but you answered my question. Cause its what you would like.

Not to get off the topic...but I have what you posted..with the exception of the break in parts....and its less than 8k..but anyways. Thats not the point of this thread

$2000 without and like $2450 with?
Ok.....but what are you expecting to get for $450.00 in regards to management?

And again how much power do you want this kit to make?
But you understand why I'd want the break in manifold right? My friend got jet coating on his new manifold for his Evo and the thing just won't stop smoking.

That setup is what I plan on going with this summer, so you might be getting a call. I just talked to Toyota and if water was the damage factor, then insurance will cover it, so I just need to talk to them about using JE pistons and Carillo rods...If I can manage the rebuild (since the rebuild + labor will be much cheaper than an entire new short block without labor) then you just might be getting a call sometime in May/June Btw, approx how much would that run me, minus the internals and things not actually associated with the turbo kit (PM me if you don't want to talk numbers on the board).

Like I said, you can have it cheap, fast or reliable, pick two. I'm going with fast and reliable.
