Turbo broke my windshield strip! lolz
Okay, so I got a nice flat straight stretch of road that I just cruised down and there were no cops and decided to let her loose to check the ECU timing adjustments being made on my scangauge and my AFR's to verify that the tune was still running perfectly as before (which it was) and as I reached about 115, I heard a whistling above my head... weird. Then when I got to about 120+ (wasn't watching speedo) it suddenly got really loud. Naturally, I kept my foot in it until speed cut but long story short, the little plastic/rubber piece between the windshield glass and the air deflector glass and torn off at both ends and is now MIA. I'm under the 36k mark so warranty should cover it but my question is, has anyone else had this problem and do they have to remove the windshield to replace it? It appears as though it is connected to the rubber trim surrounding the windshield... ugh.

Technically, by the time inertia was lost, the car was at 130 mph but that isn't the first time at all nor will it be the last. I might scare the crap out of a tech from Toyota by doing it again to show him the noise

i know when me and a friend were looking at an 08 for her, they had said there was a problem with that little strip "popping" out of place, it made a noise when we test drove and we pulled over and just popped it back into place. So it should just be a piece they pop in since they know its a problem.

Mine looks like it was attached to the little rubber lining along the sides of the windshield and snapped off on the ends but it's hard to tell. I just don't want to pay for one considering I've never gone through a car wash with it. Nor do I want them playing with the 280 hp on my stock clutch... gotta make it last until after holidays...

the right half came loose and was banging on my roof, i was doing about 75 when it happened, and before that it had only slightly come loose on the right side, but i had my windshield replaced so i thought it was due to that, lol
what i did was run a thin strip or urethane winshield sealant and just pushed it back on, has never come loose again! and the whistling noise is gone!

I had this happen on my old truck (2001 F150) when the windshield got replaced but the dude just sucked at putting it in because he never glued it back down, it flew off at 80 on I-95 (70 mph speed limit) so I just bought a new one from the dealer for like 25 bucks and epoxy'd that bastard down lol. I'm heading there now, I'll keep y'all updated.

***UPDATE***
I went to the dealer today and the part is indeed one big piece that goes all the way around your windshield (at least for 07+) and it costs 70 bucks or so. It is covered under warranty since I don't have nearly 36k yet and it's a next day part delivery. I am going to let them install it even though I know I could do it no problem because if it fails again later, they can't blame it on me. The dealership I'm going to has huge glass windows to all the bays and they are good people there. I went to three other Toyota dealers before buying my car from them because of the way they treated their customers. Hopefully all goes well tomorrow and I'll be running around town without missing pieces again!

I might just go pick it up and do it myself anyway. I'll have the car in the garage all day tomorrow and I'll glue it down this time since they probably won't. I'll just foot the bill if it happens again. The part did arrive today but I couldn't get out there in time so I'll go tomorrow when I get up.
