Default Turbo/downpipe/spipe not lining up??

If I put the downpipe on the Turbo then it doesn't line up with the spipe. If I put the downpipe on the spipe then the bolts don't match up to the Turbo. Its a Garrett turbo and Treadstone manifold/downpipe. None if it was bought on eBay so I know its not cheap knockoffs. Any suggestions? Ill post pics as soon as I can.

WELL MJONZ MY friend that turbine is a four bolt housing with what seems to be an internal waste-gate flap.

Still need the picture of the down-pipe and s-pipe.

I'm guessing you have a five bolt flange down-pipe and that will not fit this turbo at all.

The turbo seems pretty used.
-Is there any shaft play?
-How is the compressor wheel?
-What kind of bearings does this unit have journal or ball?

What did the previous owner tell you about this turbo before you bought it??
To be safe you should open it/or have someone check it to make sure the internal parts are ok before installing it on your car.

Depending on what flange style down-pipe you have it might be easier to sell that turbo and get a non-internally gated turbo.

I don't want to sound rude but how much experience do you have in forced induction?

just found your issue, the turbine isnt a 4bolt its an internal gated 8bolt... treadstone downpipes come in only 4 bolt, the 5 bolt ones are knock offs and also the 4bolt downpipe is meant to be used on the standard external gated garretts which have a different angle bolt pattern looks to me like when you bolt them together you downpipe sists too far foward this will be an easy fix, hit up dezod and buy a standard .48 a/r 4 bolt turbine housing

From what I recall, the only way it'll line up is some custom work, which goes with a lot of turbo kits that are not bought as a complete kit. Downpipes are notorious for not lining up for any turbo setup so there'll be some work needed for sure

I just fixed all the pics, they weren't showing up from my phone. Its a 4bolt dpipe with a dumptube. The Turbo is an old airesearch TA0301 from an older Saab/benz. No shaft play. I've done plenty of work on cars, but this is my first experience with forced induction.

I thought about buying a new housing but didn't think it was necessary, but I guess ill look into it now lol.

I guess I'd better find somewhere in st louis to fab my downpipe. Any exhaust shop should be able to, right?

Hope I didn't sound rude just have to ask.

Well just re-fab the down-pipe and adjust the compressor housing to the right position and you should be good.

Good luck with your kit.

Oh now that I can see the downpipe I can tell
You that is not a treadstone downpipe it's one sold by speedyracer and is made to bolt up to eBay .48 turbines also your turbo is too small for our engines

No rudeness detected at all...I appreciate your help.

So I got ripped off on the downpipe....if I buy a true treadstone downpipe, it should work then, right? Please explain how the turbos too small? Its quick and low end spooling that's good up to 250hp.....

okay since i have experience with both treadstone and ebay products i will tell you your going to need a new turbo AND downpipe

that downpipe will ONLY mate to a ebay .48 turbine

and the turbo you currently have has a turbine that is rare and old styled, as far as the turbo size its cold side is too small its a .42 ar coldside which will be blowing hot air past about 4000rpms on our engine.. itll be as slow as stock past that

if you want a cheap easy fix i would suggest you buying an ebay turbo with a .48 turbine or you can also just buy a new turbo... a common t3 with atleast a .50 compressor i suggest a 57 tho and then have a shop make the downpipe fit itll require cutting the downpipe flange rotating it and welding it together

i'd suggest getting the treadstone DP and a 4bolt turbo. that DP looks cheap and low quality. there is no flex or slip where the dump tube meets the DP so i can assure you it will crack there. like it was said that DP was ment for a 4 bolt also it's ment to run an external gate. i'd suggest picking up a turbo and an external gate then getting a custom DP made.
