Default turbo exhaust housing seize causing turbine not to spin?

has anyone have this happened to them before? i left the turbo on the shelf after i took it off my car, and it was spinning perfectly. A few days ago, i tried to spin it but it would take a little more than usual pressure to spin the shaft. i tried to take the exhaust housing off but it would not budge at all!

Anyone have any ideas? its made by turbonetics

rust prolly has the hot side housing stuck...give it a shot of pb or wd40...let sit...rubber malet should get it off. could also just take a hammer and tap around the housing to break up the rust.

as far as the wheel, do you hear any scratching when you spin it? Im thinking you got some old oil in there thats kinda turned to sludge and thats maybe why it doesnt spin as well or its just rust on the shaft.

My guess is that it's probably sludged oil. I have seen this a few times. Simply some WD40 and some love taps should get her loose.

well its time to either learn some more about your turbo and disassemble it, or run by a shop and see what is going on....cant imagine seals or anything would cause binding.....

troy that is a pretty arrogant comment. do you really think that someone is to stupid to remove 6 bolts and take the housing off? or are you mistaken and dont understand what we are talking about?

can you atleast rotate the housing? if so try rotating it a few times while spraying some wd 40 on it every so often.

btw why were you taking the hot side off again? are you going to try and rebuild the turbo?

if you read the posts you'd notice that no one said anything about the internals of the turbo is all. he's talking about the exhaust housing being stuck to the CHRA at the moments.

anywho.... i placed it on a vice to see if i could turn it... and no luck either.. man this exhaust housing is a pain! I'm trying to get it off so i can hopefully see if anything is causing the turbine not to spin... i've been hearing a lot about oil sludge, and if so, then i really gotta pull everything apart...
