turbo install question
ok. not sure if this is completely idiotic or not. wondering if i can run my turbonetics kit with 550cc injectors on STOCK ecu for an hour and a half drive OUT of boost. or even oem injectors on stock ecu? just rather do the install myself and closest tuner is an hour and a half away so trying to see what i can do. thank you sorry if this is a dumb question lol

stock injectors will be fine out of boost...if you install the 550's it will run like crap for a while but you shouldnt be in any danger of engine failure as long as you stay out of boost. you will however foul your plugs by the time you get there.

Towings not an option. If someone who has a basemap please chime in. But if I can't get either in a week, I wanna have a back up which looks to be stock ecu/injectors out of boost of course.

Im kind of in the same boat as you wen i install my kit next month to boost again because im an hour and a half from my tuners as well. PM DeAnzaJig he has tons of maps for 550's

If you got to do it and there is absolutely no other choice, pick up some sacrificial spark plugs because you will toast them if you have to go that far. Getting a base tune to limp in would be a better option.

I dont understand what everyone is so afraid of here. Leave the car on stock injectors/stock ECU and drive it to the tuner. As long as you dont go out and make wot pulls in it, youll be fine, just drive it like like a reasonably sane person, trust me itll be fine. The turbo isnt going to magically blow the damn car up driving down the road. Anyone here whos blown up a car or done any damage on stock ECU/injectors is someone who thought they could get by without a tune and went out beating the ____ out of the car.
Also FWIW, dont let said tuner screw you out of some cash by charging $100+ to install your FIC/injectors. You can easilly throw the injectors in while in their parking lot, as long as the FIC is plug and play, same thing.

Trust tha dawg you should-yoda
I would bring a couple of rags to place on the valve cover, that will keep you from burning your arms while you work on the injectors. Be careful of the grommets and o-rings from falling off and getting lost.

f that im doin like 80 the whole way lol. what difference does it make as long as im not in boost? i understand itll be dumping extra fuel but too much to go over 60? and i think im gonna try oem plugs there cus these 2 step ones are brand new and about 50 bucks lol
