Why do you think I said 5-8,000? Something like a TT 2.1 stage 3 kit, with a full 3" PTuning exhaust, Defi gauges, and a clutch will easily reach the $8,000. And that's still a basic bolt on kit.
TT 2.1 Stage 3 - $4,900
Fuel Management - $1,000
3" PTuning Exhaust - $900
Clutch - $800
Gauges - $800
Tune - $500
That's $8,900, and that's doing things the right way.

Agreed.
Some people leave out some really important things in their "setup".
Gauges can easily ramp up to $400 depending on which ones you get.
Clutch/flywheel combo is easily $600-$700. That's a grand right there.
You can save a little money on the exhaust by getting a custom one done - and the fitment will be perfect since it's custom - they can alter it on the spot.

I agree with the exhaust, but that's the only thing you should even consider skimping out on. Gauges + Pod should cost at least $500. A UEGO and a pod alone is around $300-350 new. And the gauges are the one thing I wouldn't even consider cheaping out on, because those are the only things telling me everything is okay.

Even still, cheap ____ty oil pressure gauge = $30. Quality oil pressure gauge = $250. I went with the middle ground and got a Prosport, which i knew was damn near Defi quality for only $100. So what's $70? 3 hours of work? I'd rather spend the extra $70 and feel safer.
