Turbo PSI Question
#21
yeah im running the greddy kit and i have the replacement manifold with support bars but the welds cracked on the support bars... :/ it has been holding up fine for now, we will see how it does with some more boost running through it. how much is that replacement manifold? i got mine used so it came with it. if mine cracks im going to go custom with EWG.
i have 550cc that im going to install once i get tuned for 10psi and see where that takes me.

Well if my injectors are tapped out, that's fine, I don't need really need to go any higher. I'm too the point where I have enough power to keep me happy and don't want to drop more money than I need to into the car.
Greddy couldn't give me a price on it as they don't sell it directly, but they said 400-500. I was looking into another manifold, but am unsure what will fit. From what it seems, it may be more than it's worth to make something fit, considering modifications to the down-pipe and intercooler piping that might be needed.

Actually it doesn't. Reputable tuners do not tune for power, if a tuner ever tunes for power that's a huge problem. Most tuners won't even say "sure your car can get xxx whp", they'll say "we'll see when we get it on the dyno", tuners are less worried about power and more worried about reliability so you don't hop out there and throw a rod through the hood.

Hey Guys I'm new to the F/I forums and was wondering (sorry if its a bit of threadjacking) if I need to worry about anything If Im using a Greddy Kit + 550 Inj, because I want to run at 10 or 12 psi but I don't know if that would be "safe" any help guys?

With boost, safe is an arbitrary term applied to set-ups that have yet to destroy motors. 10-12 psi is not in that category generally(IMO)
but if u have a good tuner and clutch, have fun.

It's kinda funny, people make such a big deal about buying the "most powerful kit" as most will never realize the full potential of their kit (as most do not build their motor, from what I can gather).
It would seem to me that if your not planning to build out your motor, you should just buy the cheapest kit you can find (as your motor will most likely limit you before your kit does).

Would have to disagree with that. More and more people are building their motors these days than when F/I first started with the tC. The people who don't build their motor, usually don't buy the most power/potential kit.
And for those that do and don't build, it's like that old saying...."I'd rather have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it".
Boost is addictive and once you start turning the BC up, you never want to go back down or stop for that matter.
