latest shots were of a toyota w/ the boxter engine as of a few weeks ago - it was a red concept car

Ya, that's the Toyobaru... which is not the tC replacement. That's a separate project between Toyota and Subaru for a small RWD coupe. And as much as we wish it was the tC's replacement, all signs so far are that it is not.

Why would we care if it is the replacement really? If it is a cool car, then it is a cool car. I dont really care which badge they put on it.

Part of me wished they would have put a toyota engine in it for reliabilities sake, but the subies are better than they used to be. The tranny should hold up well though of course and you should be able to get some decent power out of them with some work. I think it is a hell of a good looking car with a lot of potential if they keep it the way they say... and lose the butt ugly interior that the concept has!

From what we've heard the Toyobaru wont be the new Scion. The Toyobaru is the new Toyota FT-86 concept which is planned to launch 2011.

These are some of the pictures I found online...

Yea thats not the Scion replacement Jwaggz!

It never planned to be. Somehow a rumor got started. I seriously see no way that toyota would make that a scion. Its to nice to be a scion. Scion isnt a performance line anyways. plus a 16-18yr old and many stupid early 20's people dont need a rwd car that they can think they are even more supercool than they already think they are in a slow FWD tC.

Plus the scion tC replacement is gonna be a fuse rendition. Im going with 95% sure on that from everythign I have read and heard from people in the know!

Which is full of fail. I may consider this FT-86 thing, but if the tC is FWD, it ain't for me. I like the styling of my tC, but I regret buying it over something with AWD almost everyday.

Well there are a few things we know for sure..

- It will be RWD
- It will come to light
- It will be running a Boxer N/A 2.0L

Based on those facts alone.....2jz Swap FTW!

What do you mean by a fuse rendition? In what fashion?
