Turbo or supercharger
Hey ,
Well to start off as far as the engine goes aside from the intake its bone stock. I want to invest in a few more horses but im unsure of what would give me the most bang for my buck. This car is my daily driver and i dont really know what mods need to be done to the motor, tranny, ect ect so that i dont destroy something by having to much power that stock parts cant handle.
Any ways any info on what i would have to modify on my car so i dont blow to motor or mess up anything else would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Car Specs:
2007 Scion tC
Automatic
55k miles
Engine is stock only have intake.

First off "search" your question has been asked many times already. There's even a sticky on what you need to do to turbo you auto. And more info is need to help you suck as how much power you want and what your budget. But a quick search would more than likely answer all you questions

-well Supercharger will be a hard road to follow, because they don't sell the TRD S/C anymore and trying to find parts everywhere could be a headache.
-Turbo might be a better route for you, just search things up.
just have to deal with all the added expensive in boost your car

first problem.............auto
sec problem-not much you can do with them as far as power, maybe and exhaust, intake
is it worth to turbo a auto,if you ask me the answer is no,cause auto's cant handle as much power as a manual can,i suggest you do lots of research

1) Don't do a N/A build unless you can do the labor yourself and even if you did it would net you roughly 200whp
2) You don't NEED to do a manual swap and regardless of what the trolls say, you won't kill the tranny by boosting your auto. Just don't expect to push as much boost as a manual and you can also go with a smaller turbo. Don't forget the auto tranny cooler as well and you will be fine. Your power goal on an auto should be ~250whp and you'll be fine if all you're looking for is a few more horses and not a 12 sec tC.
3) The TRD Supercharger was the worst idea ever...if you research the costs you will see that the initial costs start off low but piecing it together gets costly. Also you will need the ECU reflash and once it is flashed it cannot go back so you'll need to factor in buying another ECU, preferably used. You also need to factor in the cost associated with pulleys, belts, bearings, etc. IN the end the S/C is just a failure waiting to happen.
You have options when it comes to boosting your auto.

im in the process of building a s/c tc, i got a good deal from a guy who had a brand new one now im just hunting down parts for it... i may go against it and go the turbo route, shot me a message if ur interested the kit is almost complete im missing the auto fit kit and minor hoses that u can get anywhere lol
@echo04 - i got hammered when i told everyone i was going the s/c route with a auto... they told me i wasnt even going to reach 200whp... it sux having an auto lol

Get a small turbo system with a 50trim turbo .48AR exhaust side. Stick to 6psi tops - that should get you around 230whp with a decent tune.
If you're baller but still want to stick with your stock auto tranny, get a GT28RS turbo and stick to 7-8psi.. will have awesome spool.

You can build your own kit by starting with one of the ebay kits. You can sell that turbo for a few hundred dollars, and buy a real Garrett turbo. Get yourself some injectors and a piggy-back. Have someone who knows what they're doing install it.

The S/C is garbage anyway regardless of if it's on a manual or auto. It was rated at ~200whp, that never happened in reality with many people. It is a huge waste and even to acquire parts when something fails would be at a huge cost, not really worth it IMO.

I didnt plan on posting here, but, how much would a complete middle-of-the-road turbo setup cost? And I'm talking a goal of 6-7, maybe 8 psi max and 225whp tops.
