Default TURBO who what where and why do you think?

have an 09 tc out here in southern cali and first question is does anyone know of any good shops that knows the ins and outs of TCs and has experience with turbos?? all my friends have V8s and know nothing of what they call my "chop sticks" lol
I spent all day researching and came up with: a greddy T4 turbo bolt on kit, and exhaust (with their exhaust its no cats), timer and to because the tranny can only boost up to 200hp a rebuild is necessary to get the right air to fuel ratio and make sure everything is breathing right. THEN I run into someone who has a few friends that all have 07 scions ... hes telling me that every single one of them has blown their engines..."they barely stepped on it and there went the engine!" .. he said its because scion has crappy pistons and one slip of anything and the motor is done! .. is this only for 07s or a bunch of bologna his friends just didnt have the right stuff?! ... There is a place i found in jersey that would rebuild the entire tranny..after 8200 in parts and a tranny rebuild looking at about 300 hp to the wheels. according to the greddy guy this is all truth if it is done right. but then hearing what the guy says about the engine I got scared...
soo im looking for more of you out there that have/had turbos or know anything that would be helpful! please and thanks a bunch!

soo
do you know of anyone in so cal that works on TCs?
what is the 411 on the motor? they are saying it cant handle..
have you had/have a turbo?
experience ?
horror stories?
I need all the opinions positive/negative i can get please!!
Thank you!!

auto tranny should hold up to 250hp. and shouldnt go over 6 or 8psi(not sure)

i jus installed the greddy kit and got it tuned on wed. at 3.5psi i got 242hp/218/tq and at 10psi 300/303

hit up church automotive testing for tune, i think they do installs also..

Im on my second engine and sitting at 330 whp first engine blew a prison ring due to bad to lack of a good tune from the start, it was a 08 now on a 07 engine it's holding I do know the 07 engine was prone to Head gasket failure due to the studs but it was fixed in 08 and the engines are good to 350 wtq not hp
The pistons are not the weak point it's the piston rings and the Rods the rings wear out an the Rods just give up above 350 wtq, now the auto trans starts to slip and over rev past 250 whp

First off i think your friends are exaggerating. But auto i wouldn't go over 250 whp. The greddy kit is a great base kit especially for an auto. The stock engine can handle over 300whp. So its the transmission that will hold u back more here. But be careful with emissions.

And lasingg you got a dyno chart with psi numbers too?

Trade it in and get a manual so you won't have to worry about the transmission. If its correctly tuned, there will not be issues. Low boost stay on stock engine (7lbs or less for safety). If this is a daily driven tc and you want more boost then build the internals ( don't have a shop just throw parts at it, everything needs clearanced correctly and machined correctly for it to be a truly built engine)

i'm in socal (camp pendleton area until july). i can help you out with installing a turbo kit so you don't get bent over by a shop on pricing. sean at church does 350 complete tune on the fic. like everyone has said the auto tranny will break after 250ish whp.

also i doubt it's a t4 footed turbo kit. Greddy generally uses the mitsubishi flange. if it is a t4 kit it is entierly too big for our car.

what your friend said about the tc's having bad pistons is a crock. i've ran boost on my tc for over 40K miles and i've beaten the snot out of it many times. it's not a tc thing he just had a bit of bad luck.
