Default Turbonetics turbokit with aditions (no pictures yet)

well, I lurk here and there all over this website but I have failed recently to post up some of the modifications that I have done (or am in the process of doing) to z scion.
This is I think all inclusive, I could always be leaving something out. but I'll see if I can remember it all.

Engine-------------------------------------------------------
Turbonetics turbokit (consists of the following)-->
T3/T4 E-50 Ball Bearing Turbo
Spearco intercooler
Raptor blow-off valve
Evolution wastegate
Stainless oil feed line
Stainless down-pipe with wastegate dump-tube
Cast "log" iron exhaust manifold
Black chrome mandrel bent aluminum intercooler pipes
------------------------------------------------------------------
Also:
CP pistons (9.5 compression ratio)
Stock Rods
1mm oversized valves/springs/retainers
Race bearings
Stock head
E-manage Ultimate
Walbro 255Lph Fuel Pump
550cc injectors
-----------------------------------------------------------------
other random modifications,
Quaif Limited slip differential (First Installed on the East Cost BTW )
Fidanza Flywheel
Clutchmasters single stage clutch
------------------------------------------------------------------

anyways, the car is currently down right now, everything but the turbo kit is getting installed. after I get it up an running I will post up some more information.
I am open to all opinions please let me know what you think, one of the last few things I need to pick up is a boost controller. for the system. I'm not sure as to the numbers honestly I don't know for sure what to expect. I would like to move into the 300-320 range. but we'll have to see. I don't know the range of the e-manage ult can handle.
I was originally going to go with the Hydra EMS but I (like many others got screwed in the ZPI deal. I was one of the few that I have seen get their money back. ) I then opted to go with Ultimate because it was cheaper and I had bills to pay.

Anyways like I said I will post more up as it comes along.

honestly it wasn't an issue of cheaping out I just thought it would have been overkill. I'm not looking at a 450+ application, I havn't heard about any rods going out on an application of 300-320. From my looking into things the 2az-fe connecting rods are fairly stong, and it was an issue of only shot pinging them that made a difference.

but.... PAUL.... for the right price.......

If you want a boost controller, I found a great deal on a Greddy e-01. Let me know.

Ok, so other then rods and pistons, what else is needed to "build" the motor? I'll be also shooting for around 320-340whp..I just want to make sure everything is reinforced. Thanks!

well, one thing is for sure...

1) make sure you have the CORRECT spark plugs... (nology mis-packaged mine ). this could be catastrophic to your motor,
2) Bearings Get some premium bearings
3) DO Not use the turbonetics stock ecm. Unichip is garbage. their kits would be sooo much better without them.

long story short, one of the reasons that I am building my motor is because I blew a bearing. the reason for this happening is I believe 1. because I had wrong plugs and 2 because I was using a crappy tune that came on the Unichip.
don’t get me wrong, unichip can work. but that’s about all it can do. if there is any other option to go with, do not go with unichip. IMO

but yeah, you can also sleeve the block, port n polish, increase the fuel pump and the oil pump, you can put a larger fuel rail and larger injectors…honestly the list goes on... my setup should (assuming my turbo is not blown) should put me easily around the numbers you are looking for. at least that's what I am hoping for.

The Unichip comes with a base map, your not suppose to go boost crazy on it, lol. Your suppose to go get it tuned. You may have spun a bearing because u were living at redline.

yeah I knew this, but the chip already had a "tune" on it. it should have been golden. but the inccorect plugs deffinatly didn't help things at all. those 2 elements combined, is what caused my problem. well that and the allaround general asshatery that followed (yeah I drove it a little harder than I should have )

With what you have and are getting, for $500 more you can get the K1 rods from Dezod and have security and be able to boost up to 400whp if you want to. I know as well as anybody it's hard to spend that extra $500 or $1000 but if you can pull it off, do it.
