Default Unichip Tuning Questions

Hey guys,

I have a turbonetics stage 1 kits with the Pre-programmed Unichip with the Dezod black box.

Now, I know how to tune the black box and it works like a charm...

The problem I have is, how do you connect the Unichip to a PC to tune it?

The Dezod blackbox hooks up to your computers serial port, but the Unichip does not seem to have any such ports.

As well, what software do you use for the tuning interface for it?

If anyone has any clue, please let me know.

Thanks,

drew

lol...superboxcarxB, the Unichip is an engine managment system, not one of those fugazi chips they try to sell on ebay. MrHer0, the unichip is tuned using a bluetooth enabled pda...I think the unit is called the Unichip Flux??

unichips can only be tuned by unichip dealer/installers/tuners or whatever, not everybody has the equipment to tune a unichip like you can with other piggybacks like emanage blue and ultimate, or aemf/ic.

you can either find a unichip tuner to do it, or get something like an emanage ultimate and have it tuned by your preferred tuner, or youself if you know how.

Thanks for the input, I was looking in to that as well. The Bluetooth Flux thingie is only for the Version Q Unichips... I dont think the turbonetics one is the v.Q

Does anyone have any experiences with this that may be able to tell how they tuned it?

OK I'm tired of guessing and hearing differing opinions, lets get down to business! UNICHIP, whats the final verdict? What are its pitfalls with our cars? I have a custom turbo setup and I am currently running a Unichip piggyback! No prblems as of yet but I constantly knowing my ECU is fighting against it! Dezod AEM EMS... soon soon but not yet

same pitfalls of the other piggybacks, plus it can only be tuned by unichip dealer/installers.

does about the same job as the emanage ultimate.

thats actually quite wrong. The unichip does not fight the ECU. The unichip unlike emanage alters the signal coming out of the ECU, not going into the ECU like most piggybacks. The only pitfall to the Unichip is its inability to tune closed loop, just like every other piggyback out there.

The unichip is a fantastic product. I had one on my WRX for over three years running 300whp without ever having a problem.

The downside is nobody can tune them. There are very few tuners in the US that have gone through the training and have been given the program and cable.

You can tune closed loop with the AEM FIC.

Getting the Unichip tune was a pain for me. I had to go to a dealer out of state to get it tuned. I might be selling mine soon.

Closed loop - when the factory O2 sensor is sending the AFR back to the ECU so the ECU can use that data to make corrections.
Open loop - when at WOT the ECU does not rely on feedback from the O2 sensor.
NOTE: It is hard to determine exactly when the ECU transitions from CL to OL

from what i have heard the ecu switches to open loop at WOT and hard throttle.

if you slowly mash the throttle gradually all the way I heard the ecu can stay in closed loop till true WOT, so i'm guessing that if you just suddenly mash the gas from idle to half throttle the ecu goes in to open loop till the sending units(primary O2,MAF,IAT?) catch up then it begins to fight for stoich.

LOL scifi can be fun
