Default Update: ZPIracing TRD Superchager FMIC progress **PICS**

ZPIracing has been working (between opening gifts and eating lots of food) on getting the FMIC setup for the TRD S/C. We decided to do something a little bit different on the SC car than on the Turbo Car..

Ok, so I know what you're saying.. A FMIC on a tC never seen that before. I know.. right?

However, the best part is under the bumper cover. :D

That's right, With the use of a smaller IC, we were able to retain the core support and there was no trimming to the bumper required. This will also reduce the cost to the end user, while still giving you the ZPI quality you'd expect.

We hope to finalize the piping shortly.. More Info is forth coming.

It'll be a tight squeeze, but yes, I think it'll work.

Awesome! Ok ZPI, I know that its way too early to talk about pricing, but I just wanted a ball park figure of what it might cost. This intercooler kit comes with a supercharger intake, correct? I remember someone saying that it comes with the kit. I understand this kit won't be cheap, but I want an idea so I know how soon I need to start saving. Are we talking 500-700?700-1000? perhaps > 1000?

Is there a different intercooler that is small enough to fit with out modifying the bumper and core support yet also fills in the lower grill opening more? I like the idea of an i/c that doesn't require trimming the bumper. However, I wish it filled in the opening a bit more. It looks kinda puny, similar to the lunchbox intercooler on the new mazda speed miata

this core is actually about 3 times as large as the miata core i would guess. our plan is to hopefully offer this kit for people wishing to retain their bumper support, fog lights, and dont want to trim the bumper, and then another, perhaps "stage 2" kit that utilizes a much larger core, but would require the removal or cutting of the bumper support as well as trimming of the bumper.

Come on Nester,
You know I meant no harm in that. LOL I have been on ZPIs side since day one. I love what you guys are doing for the tC community. I am looking forward to buying this kit. I am just nit picking. But seriously, if you guys could find another i/c that fits and fills in the opening more, that would be great. Perhaps the same height but a bit wider. The one from your turbo kit but shorter would be awesome. Anyway, just a suggestion.

No. The idea behind an intercooler is to use the smallest intercooler that will effectively cool your incoming charge of air.

A supercharger, being driven from a belt will generate less heat than a turbo which is driven by the exhaust gas..

I apologize if I offended anyone with that miata i/c comment. None was intended. So ZPI, I posted up top about pricing. Can you tell us anything?

awesome but it would look better if it filled the gap more but happy if it does not require the removal of the front support or trimming of the front bumper.
