We are new to launching a boosted car too. Only had one practice thus far, and yeah 1st, 2nd, and pretty much 3rd too are a major task to overcome wheel spin. You pretty much won't be able to launch nor hit boost in 1st, and 2nd if the track that you go to is known for having crappy traction on.
Goodrich Drag Radials are your Friend...
