Default Upgrade to run higher PSI???

What engine internals/anything else should I upgrade in order to run over the recommended 6-9 psi on most turbo kits?? I'm looking at eventually getting into the 20+ psi. Any help??

piggy back / stand alone ecu, pistons, con rods, valves, springs, retainers, boost controller, injectors, spark plugs, intercooler, 2.5 or 3" exhaust, a good tune.

extra: clutch and flywheel, new wheels and tires.

psi varies from turbo to turbo, some turbos for example a gt30 can run at 10-12 psi and make 300. while a smaller turbo gt28rs has to run at a higher psi for example 15-18 psi to make the same power the gt 30 made. a trade off for going lower psi on a bigger turbo is a thing called turbo lag, when turbos' are propperly matched they can have minimal lag and make high power.

What sort of power are you shooting for? I mean, my friends MazdaSpeed is pushing 17psi and only putting down 250hp, where my TT kit puts the same power at 5psi.

Pistons rods and bearings is what you need to build you engine for anything over 350whp.

Right now im shooting for 300 whp . Eventually i'd like to get over that. I'm getting the Treadstone Performance kit. How much boost do you think I could push with that size turbo?

Ok. Now what do I have to account for if I want to do a turbo upgrade in the future? To properly match the turbo

if you want to boost 20 psi daily, they you should get a kit that can take full advantage of that boost. you dont want to boost 20 psi on a smaller turbo like treadstone uses. running a turbo above its efficency range greatly shortens its lifespan. if you are gonna boost 20psi then i suggest nothing smaller than a gt3071. and if you wanna make good use out of that 20psi than you want an equal length mani as well.

Dam. That looks like a much better kit. Little more pricey, but it should be worth it. Any problems with it? Or anything I should know?

you can run either one safely on a stock block. but without internals i wouldnt go past 10 psi.

Makes sense. Probably a good thing to get the emanage or emanage ultimate right?

it all depends on your budget. obviously you would want to have the best form of engine management. wich in my opinion would be the aem standalone. but they cost around $2,000. i have the e-manage maxed out with my car. by that i mean that i cant turn the boost up any higher because the e-manage wont let me add any more fuel. so if you wanna run 20 psi then you would need something better than the e-manage.

Brett, hopefully the AEM F/IC piggy back I have will do better.
bmx: I also have a kit from the same maker, but it's the lower end kit.

Check my sig.
It's good for high boost as well, but as you can see, you can start low. and it's a little less expensive.
Just be sure to get big injectors and some sort of managemnet with it.
