I've gone to the track several times where I'll trap within the same MPH 10-15 times but my ET will change by .3-.5 seconds. 60' times ranging from 2.2 - 2.5.
I didn't say traction has nothing to do with the ET.. But it does not effect the trap speed much.
ET shows what the driver is capable of.
Trap speed shows what the car is capable of.

What do you mean "if I had proper traction"? I hit a 2.2 60' time on that best run and barely spun into 2nd. You can't do much better on the crappy kumho tires ($52/tire) I'm riding on. I hit my highest trap speed and lowest ET on that run.
Almost every single run down the track I hit within 73mph. It doesn't matter if I get a 2.2x 60' or a 2.5x 60' time, it barely changes.
The only time it will change is when I have extra gas in the car and it weighs more, or if the car is getting hot and needs to cool down.

i'm just saying ANY wheel spin at all is a loss of ET dude you slide forward at the same rate in which the wheels spun. there for you are not accelerating like you want to be in a drag. thats what ppl mean when they say traction is important. the cars own current velocity is the only thing pushing it forward. not the engine pulling it.

I'll drop it because I don't want to hi-jack this guys thread.

When you're talking about turbo'd, SC, or high HP cars traction will affect the trap speed quite a bit. With good tires im trapping 2-3 MPH slower. And of course the ET is lower as well as ryhthm was saying.
