Default Wastegate Problem

I bought a Dezod S2 Turbo kit recently and I received the parts not to long ago. I was putting the turbo together to check figment (down pipe, manifold, gaskets, ect) and i noticed that the dump tube on the down pipe will NOT line up with the wastegate. I have tried to leave everything as loose as possible, nothing. Ive tried attaching the wastegate to the dump tube first, and then to the manifold, still didnt work. It seems like the dump tube is half and inch to high and even though the tube flexes, theres no amount of muscling will work. The times i did get it muscled the wastegate would not sit flat on either surface no matter how tight i got the bolts. Has this happened to any one else? Any one have any advice? Any help would be appreciated. Pics below..

You can't bolt the wastegate completely down on one side. Loosen up the bolts that connect the wastegate to the manifold then put you can put the bolts in on the downpipe. I have the S1 kit and had to do the same thing. Just slowly tighten all the bolts down.

I don't think a rubber hammer will do it. It's the easiest way is to have all the bolts for the wastegate on with a couple turns then you can tighten them down, that's what paul has said to do. I have seen someone else have this problem. If I didn't see that thread before I would have had the same problem.

wouldnt that preloaded tension cause possible problems later on? I think it would be good to bring it to an exhaust shop, have them bend it with heat

No it won't cause problems, it's a flex pipe. I have had my kit on for over 10k miles.

Sorry for the late reply but yes Ace its the same turbo that can with the kit. jsmillie07 ive done that already and your right it doesnt seat all the way down on either side, but theres a pretty decent gap. Ill take another pic of doing exactly that and every one can be the judge and tell me what they think.

if it doesn't flex properly it sounds like you could easily strip the threads

Car_Ram i agree with you 120%. Heres the pics i said i was going to post and i can tell you there is ALOT of tension on there. In the 5th pic you can clearly see all the way through the gap. The gap is where it connect to the manifold. Any one have any thoughts

I say before you do anything else contact dezod, they will help you out. Thats a lot of tension.. IMO even if you close that gaps it might will strip/bend your bolts, get leaks or even crack welds in the long run

I agree with you Ace, there is alot of tension there and the last thing i wanna do is completely torque it down and strip it out. As far as hand tight, it isnt getting any tighter the way it is right now, theres no way. Just wanted to get every ones opinion and make sure i wasnt crazy!

I don't know what to tell you. I had the same issue but I did what I told you and it worked. You have to tighten them slowly. I would turn each one a little then go to the next and it was fine for me. Like I said, I have been driving on my kit for over 10k miles and its been fine and anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not easy on my car.

I posted the thread that I found before I installed my kit. He had the same problem but if you go close to the bottom of the first page you will see that dezoddon posted what to do.

^ he may have a different issue with yours, yours might have a better fit that his. when he said its tight it could be really tight like there nothing more tightening you could do.. I have seen bolts on manifold to turbo and wastegates bend a bit over time due to heat, and thats without as much tension as this.. im sure if would potentially be an issue later if would run it like this. But like I said contact dezod and then go from there.

jsmillie07 in the other forum you had me read, i did exactly that and still no joy. So i bought a 1/2" wastegate flange that im just going to use as a spacer. Cheap and easy fix.

Or i still say bring it to a good exhaust shop and see if they can heat the pipe to bend it.. much cleaner and better way
