Default Water/Meth Injector

So im looking at water/meth injectors for my setup, just wanna get some feedbacks/recommendation on which one to get..

im looking at the aem or the spearco one..

here's the links that im looking at

http://www.dezod.com/pd_aem_water_in..._universal.cfm

http://www.dezod.com/pd_spearco.cfm

The reason im getting is more on cooling and preventing detonation.. the weather here is hot and even the cold side/charge pipe is too hot when i touch it..

The only cons im aware is you have to tune for it and if you run out of water, you have to switch map.. but it made me think too, its water.. is there a risk of hydrolocking?

you recommend water injector kits aside from the ones above?

you don't need to worry about detonating, it can't get that hot that you will be detonating. you'll lose power for sure because the car will get heat soaked and feel "soggy" as my neighbor puts it, but just keep an eye on your a/f ratios.

yeah detonating might be something not too common, it can also be avoided by conservative tune.. but hot intake temp when compressed get even more hotter.. it hit 111 deg today and the rubber in my intake filter is like close to melting and the car does feel so a lot slower and some more lag.. this will also lower the egt.. was just thinking this setup for not too much will do wonders

yeah seen that one, you guys know how fast it consumes water in average, like lets say a day of driving? or it only sprays while going into boost?

water/meth injection works based on tuning for the throttle position. basically, more throttle, more water/meth because if it just dumped the same amount constantly, it would just drown the engine during low throttle input and stall.

so how much you consume is basically like your mpg. easy on the gas, take it slow, stay outta boost, your'll go quite far, but if your open it up and boost everywhere, then you burn it up fast.

Im planning to just tap my washer fluid line for this for a cleaner install but just wondering how often i need to fill it, maybe every time i gas.. might be less, i think it only sprays mist so it shouldnt be too much

if your already intercooled, you wouldn't add water/meth unless your seeking higher boost levels.

actually, i think it would be better to add an intercooler sprayer instead of water/meth injection.

that way you can cool off your intercooler at will, and if it runs out, you can just refill it anywhere that has water.

intercooler sprayer is good idea too but i think water/meth is useful especially that as the charge pipe goes up close to the engine, the pipe gets heated up especially the pipe closer to the mani, and this summer when i touched the cold side/ charge pipe its really hot like hot not even warm.. something to cool after intercooler close to the throttle body might be an advantage.. the front mount intercooler though seems to do its job, it gets pretty good cooling from air coming up front and havent noticed it got real hot..

So far cons of meth/water injectors i've gathered are
1. Tuning- running out of water is bad tune
2. Injector kit failure- bad tune
3. Hydrolocking?? risk, but most likely not?
4. hassle of keeping track of fluid level- like on a long drive..

i would go with snow performance boost cooler all you need to do ace is use blue windsheild washer fluid its about 8 bucks for a case of 4 and it will last longer then you thinkand hydro locking the cylinder temps are so high the water evaps the second its inside the cylinder causing a cooling affect so yeah its not that bad at all trust me it would be worth it painless wiring also has a very nice setup

is there any difference between the kits? you can all use the washer tank for any kit right instead of the reservoir is comes with.. i guess its how good/accurate the controller is that makes a difference? but snow performance i guess is the more affordable ones?

yeah snow or painless and yeah you just have to tap a feed for the pump in your stock tank i know the xb2 holds 2 gallons of fluid and washerfluid works great
