water/meth VS race fuel
#2
Well both do pretty much the same thing. But the meth can be turned off and on some what, where the race gas is always there.. I think it also may come down to how readily available is race gas to you.

im going the meth rout so i am interested in seeing the answer.
My understanding is its two totally different things going on. The water/meth in jection is not being used to be burnt, it is being used to cool and deter detonation by cooling cylinder temps. And with a progressive controler, you can run it at only WOT or high boost apps.

As far as when it can be used is unlimited with a variable controller like the one in the Spearco kit. You can set it to start spraying at 0.1psi if you'd like and it doesn't have to be at WOT. HOWEVER, if you set it to turn on to soon, you will be flooding the engine with water/meth. I was able to see this on my dyno runs after the Spearco install. The more we turned up the water/meth the lower the power numbers. But when we set the water/meth to inject from 7-9.5 psi at a low flow rate the numbers jumped up drastically.
Every set up is different so find out what works for you

Meth is the equivalent of race gas. It raises the octane of your fuel which is the reason you can increase timing and lean the afrs out. The big thing is that you will not waste the meth in unnecessary "off-boost" times like you would if you used race gas which makes the meth MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than race gas (race gas is outrageous, well here at least)

Water/Meth all the way.
You can get water/meth at Wal-Mart. Can't say that about race gas
And yes, as has been said before, the cooling properties help things along. But most of the water is already evaporated before it hits the cylinder.
And Methanol IS being burned.... Methanol is a very slow-burning fuel. That's how it increases octane - by adding the slow-burning properties in the combustion chamber, thus preventing predetonation.

It's also important to note that as a chemical intercooler, it's far more efficient than other forms of intercooling for low-boost applications (under 20psi) because there's no additional piping to fill.

So yeah, you might be able to pull off a bigger nitrous shot.

In the ZEX manual it says for 55 im good with stock plugs and timing. For 65 it says to pull back timing 2 degrees and get colder plugs. For 75 its 4 degrees. Should I be safe getting colder plugs and running the 65 shot jets for nitrous and fuel? Just asking. I wont do it if Im risking a lot.

Karl are you running a Snow kit?
