Default water temp sensor in radiator drain plug

I was wondering if a water temp sensor could be installed into the drain plug of the radiator using some adapters. I know they make the housing where you cut the radiator hose and slide on the housing and srew in the sensor, but I was looking for alternatives first. Thanks

Yup it displays intake temp from the maf. You get alot for your dollar with a scangauge.

I have the scangauge and it does a great job.. The water temp sensor im trying to tap is for my thermofan relay.. since the mishimoto drain plug isnt good anyways im planning to just replace it with a threaded sensor

Ok the drain plug on the mishimoto is 1/2 -18 pitch, I found this

I can use this reducer for my 3/8 NPT water sensor.. Not sure about the stock size i'll take a look.. I like the idea of using the rad, it looks cleaner

Well the only problem I see with that is the drain plug is at the bottom of the radiator. That is where the cooler coolant will be which may give you a false reading. This depends on what you want to do. I personally would not do it.

the mish has a top and bottom drain plug if i remember correctly, and i dont think you would want it at the top either cause an air bubble may throw the reading off. On the bottom makes more sense to me, you gotta think that the water is constantly being circulated throughout the radiator via the water pump so its not like the bottom could be much cooler if at all.
