Default Whats the difference...

Between turbo kits for autos and ones for 5spd?
Why do they say a 5spd kit wont fit an auto?
Is the same as like with the supercharger where its just because of the dipstick for the tranny? Or will the tranny itself be in the way?
If I have the auto fit kit from the SC will that solve my prob?

Yeah but why would that make a 5spd kit not fit an auto?

^ that,
plus the piping may be a little different to fit around the factory trans cooler lines, and on some kits there are clearance issues with the trans dip stick

What bdis said. On mine I had to cut the trans dipstick mount and move it.

Well some kits the whole intercooler piping is off and needs to be changed and on some the downpipe and s-pipe combo are off some its where the turbo is... It all depends on the kit.

You got the SoundPerformance kit right? I'm pretty sure that one fits well, you just will have to push the trans dip out of the way. No cutting or anything.

Sized turbo or specs of it may be different due to the way the auto displaced the load in comparison to a 5 speed.

they are supra guys, you gotta talk to the right one to get info on the kit. Their pipe set up is alot like the v1 turbonetics but with the shortie intercooler. If it is pushed forward by the dip mount just take a dremmel and cut a tad off the mounting bracket. Is he sending the full kit or just the turbo section? If you have trouble just bring the car to asylum and I'll show you what I did to get mine to fit.

so when buying a kit for my auto I need to buy an auto kit and not a used manual kit? I was looking at the 06 greddy kit for my tc or that upgraded zpi kit.

It would definitely be easier if you got a kit that was made for the auto. If you got one for a 5spd you might have to modify some parts.

here is a link youll need http://www.dezod.com/files/ECU%20pinouts----.pdf

you want to take the wire e4-8 (aka EFI RELAY) and cut it (try to get as much slack as you can, its kinda hard to do and be careful not to damage the wire), take one end to the common pin for the switch on the relay and the other end to the normally closed pin.

here is a pic of a standard automotive relay for example
Name: IMG_1737.jpg
Views: 33
Size: 139.0 KB

pin 85 and 86 are the coil of this relay so one pin will go to a ground (doesnt matter, nearest bolt or screw will do as long as its a good ground) and the other pin needs to go to a switched + that will come on with the key in the on position.

pin 87a will not be used

pin 87 and 30 will go to the efi relay (e4-8

any questions?
