Default What's a good intercooler for the TRD S/C ?

Just got the S/C with 7 psi, i have heard that a water to air intercooler is the best option. Any info will help.

you don't need any kind of intercooling unless you plan to run something like 12 psi of boost.

and using an intercooler on the trd supercharger costs you 2 psi, so lose power anyway.

if you want to cool the intake charge, you have to use water/meth injection, but if your stock, don't waste your time and money with intercoolers.

yeah, when your pushing those boost levels you need to start cooling the intake.

the most powerful supercharged tc that we know of was icenine's tc. his name is karl werbeck. he dyno'ed 311 whp with a 12 psi pulley, custom supercharger cams from rippmods, and ofcourse supporting mods like tune, injectors, water/meth injection etc. but he doesn't seem to post on here anymore.

but that is alot of expense to go into for the supercharger.

one that works

and meth injection is far too costly

go 12.5 IC (and the rest of the necessities ) and im sure youll be well into the 300's

Meth injection is EXTREMELY cheaper than an intercooler. And more cost effective.
You loose boost with an intercooler, so you have to make up for it.

Somone on here is selling an intercooler for like $900
Water/meth is around $350.

methenal is cheap. You buy it and mix it with water, and it does not run all the time. You can tune it yourself easily. You set it to come on at eithet WOT or at a given boost level. That way, it will only spray when you are accelerating very hard, when you need it.

with an intercooler, you will need a piggy back tunning system at around $400-$600 with harness. Add in a dyno tune at around $300. And with the price of the intercooler and you are talking $1800-$2000. Oh and a wideband 02 sensor, $300.

Meth injection is great unless your pump fails or gets clogged, I thin kthe best intercooler is a pwr barrel intercooler in the charge pipe a 6"x6" barrel is a good size and has 3" inlet and outlet.
