it takes time to tune a car correctly - even if you have engine work its good to tune it and then retune later. Plus - having engine work doesnt mean you need to tune for max power - you want a sold tune. He can now turn up that boost and have some fun next year. I have no clue who this guy is - but im just sayin.

And you are absolutely right. Having a built motor doesn't protect you against a crap tune. You can have the best pistons and rods in the world but if your tune sucks and the car detonates you can kiss the ring lands goodbye. Not to mention tuning a freshly built motor for max boost in power before the break in is done is not exactly the smartest idea on the planet. A built motor should be run at moderate boost and power levels until it is sufficiently broken in.

The tuner is Danzio Performance in Lake Elsinore California, just in case anyone wanted the reference --an awesome tuner, the best I have found.

Whats up Garm, let me say I've had the plessure of riding in this car and all I can say is WOOOW....this thing is a monster, this is just the beggining too, this motor is capeble of so much more, can't wait to see what 12 pounds will do .

im glad to hear that you found somebody to tune your unichip, some of us other t'netics kit guys are having a hard time getting it tuned.

wow, deffinetly waiting to see this thing under more boost. Truly amazing and I like how you did it low key without posting up what you could make for 6 months before even owning it like some people do. Came straight out with a dyno video. MAD PROPS!!

thanks for the words of encouragement. I updated my profile with a few pics of the internals as we were building the motor.

Agreed that qualified UNICHIP tuners are few and far between; I got burned then found a great one, Danzio Performance (www.danzioperformance.com).

Here is a link to the dyno sheet, showing 304 to the wheels at 8.8 pounds. This was done on a Mustang dyno, which I understand to be a great machine for tuning:

Next tune is at 12 pounds. I have to put in larger injectors for 12 pounds, as the "stock" MOTRON 640cc ones from Turbonetics are now maxed out at 9 pounds.

That will be the "A" map for daily driving, probably about 360 whp. We are planning on a B map, but I'll wait to post on that til we have something real to share, It will take some more custom parts we're working on.

Very nice!!! I'm surprised the 630cc motron's maxed out at only 9 psi. Hopefully I'll be joining on the fully built turbonetics tC's soon.

I think the injectors aren't enough because of the lower compression and the pigged out head. The things sucks air like crazy now...

^karl (311whp s/c tc) also maxed out at 9-10lbs - he had to get 650's i think. Its hard to believe that 640's are maxed out at 9lbs. Turbo setups deff have their differences over s/c'rgd
