Yes, 318_tC mention this as well. So your not the only one... I think I will wait for different rods to hit the market or custom.
yea - it was that guy or someone else - they called the company that made them and they weren't the nicest people to him - If I remember correctly they kind of made it sound like "uhh yea .... you have to notch it ...why is that so odd ....**click**" kind of attitude.
Well, several stout aftermarket rods need to be knotched to fit applications. I have seen this time and time again with Oliver, Crower, Carrillo etc. It's VERY tough to get the strength required for the rod to hold serious power and keep it identical to stock and keep clearences good.

It wasn't that big of a deal to notch the block. The machine shop has done it many times and knew exactly what to do. If that's part of the game so be it. I got it done, and the motor is fine.

Here is my problem, however.

Since notching takes extra time and definitely extra money, and is common, I believe (and I am a retailer) that the seller has a responsibility to mention that a part (1) may need customization to fit, and that (2) the customization may cost money, (3) and that a qualified technician should do the customization.

Paul, if you believe this knowledge is the buyer's responsibility, then I respectfully disagree.

All I am saying is that a professional engine builder, unless you are one, should be doing the build of the motor and if this is the case, most engine builders will just make the notches and not even bother to make mention anything about it. (in my years of experience)

We do not encourage any such engine building or highly techinical installation of parts without a professional present or doing the work himself. Simple as that. I am merely stating that with performance there is always a trade off, and if anyone has any questions we encourage you to either ask us before purchasing, or feel free to ask the manufacturer regarding an issue like this. We are not the manufacturer and encourage our customers to make educated purchases. Information prior to a purchase is an essential is all that I am stating. We will provide all information that is to our records to help the customer the best we can. That is what I am saying.

I think "Notching the Block" would be a great name for a metal band.

Also, "The Performance Rods".
