My thoughts exactly. There's too many keyboard experts on this forum giving out false information. We've install and tuned enough on evos and subaru to know that if you want more power out of your turbo, you jump straight to a 3" or larger turboback.

Some of you need to read our very long Turbo Exhaust FAQ

Browndogg - how did they dyno it in 3rd gear? On manuals it's fine, but in 3rd gear on an auto tC, you're doing 80+mph... not really safe...

Not sure how they dynoed it. but my dyno graph shows 96mph so who knows haha

I love when people say 3" is useless even when I post this topic and show proven results. hahaha

dude take the same car on the same dyno with a 2.5 inch exhaust. Then take that same exact exhaust and make it 3 inch and when you have a small turbo on an automatic tc you won't see many pros or cons..

you're trying to compare an axleback to a full 3 inch exhaust and of course the 3 inch will be better..

O really? You think people wont see any gains going from a 2.5" to a 3" exhaust? mospeedtc is an actual example and there fore proving that a 3" inch is beneficial. He has a turbo kit on an automatic and got great gains

This post is getting ridiculous. The bottom line is this. Maybe at 200whp there might not be any noticable gain from 2.5" to 3", but at 300whp there is a noticable gain. And as the hp numbers gets beyond 300whp, the gains is more and more significant.

The question is should you buy a 2.5" exhaust if you're planning to make only 200whp for now and then later buy another 2.75" exhaust when you make 275whp and then buy a 3" exhaust again, when you make 300+whp. If going bigger now does not affect the power you're currently making and also give you room to make more power later, I think the choice is easy. But regardless buy whatever exhaust system makes you happy, just don't tell us that there's no need for a 3" exhaust on a turbocharged car.

Of course the same does not apply to NA car.

I was under the impression that you wanted to run a dyno on the gear that's closest to a 1:1 ratio... for the auto's that would be in "D" (which is like 0.976:1 or something.) "3" on autos is like 1.75:1 iirc.

idk but my tranny slips already when i get to like 80 mph - 100 mph.. i hit 242 whp 245 wtq in my auto.. i dont push it at all though.. only once vs a full bolt on 07 gti.. i owned him 0-80 then my slippage started and he caught me top end .. 3 " exhaust is reaaaally nice though when u get on it.. go ptuning!!!!

^His car dynod at 200... thats all I'm saying. Of course you are right about more power bigger diameter, but if you dyno at 200 and want to stay there then the 3 inch is not worth the additional cost and weight.

You would probably see some gains from 300 horses but how many tcs actually have that kind of power at the wheels?

this thread only has gone to prove 1 thing. If your going to mod a car like a man then you cant be like a woman and drive a car with an auto trans.

those are not toyota trannys. You dont even know what kinda money you would have to throw at tha trans to even make it hold 300. Autos in street cars are just stupid. if you would have had manual a 400 dollar clutch would have done just fine. Not to mention they are much more fun to drive.

.. thats the dumbest thing iver ever heard... first of all when i send my tranny to level10 sooner or later and have them bulletproof it and get me a new torque converter on there and im not slipping anymore well see whos pushing more hp and whos winning races. i dont loose any boost through shifts. then comes the internals after that. then well really see how girly my auto is . k thx.
