Default wideband gauge help

mods i appologize if this is in the wronge spot i dont start new posts often please move if incorrct.

im a serious tuning newb so please forgive me. I bought an autometer wideband gauge to run on my car for the turbo. Now i know we have a wideband o2 sensor so my plan was to just figure out which of the four wires off the o2 sensor was the signal wire and splice into it. Would this work??? i was talking to a friend and he told me to be carful because splicing into the wire would cause an additional load inbetween the sensor and ecu causing the ecu to think the motor was running different because the gauge was pulling some of the power? any imput or help would be great.

P.S. i searched like a **** plz no flaming lol

It could work but placing the Probe farther down the pipe would be better. I put my AEM on the S-pipe.

i also think taping into the wire may not work if it is heat shielded

you should NOT tap into those wires, and weld on your own bung to the spipe and place your new 02 sensor there for the wideband.

Primary sensor on the header is a wide band. second sensor on the s-pipe is a narrow band.

The primary sensor is a funky wideband with only 4 wires. I do not think there are any aftermarket replacements so I would just get a new one from Toyota (try online if possible like TRD sparks or something). Also which Autometer gauge did you buy??

Sorry I thought for some reason you wanted a new stock replacement. I guess I was a little tired last night. Anyways I thought your wideband came with a sensor already. If not I would contact Autometer and figure out how to get a replacement.
