how heavy is the barrel?

Diameter of the ic barrel? lenght?

where did you mount the heat exhanger? what did you modify if anything for it?

what type of coolant do you use?

does it recommend a coolant tank for better results ?

thank you

The barrel is made of aluminum and weighs maybe a pound.

Dimensions 4" x 6" (11.75" total Length)

The radiator mounts up front, next to that radiator will be a tranny cooler as well. Nothing to cut or modify - fits great on test fit.

You can use regular coolant.

It doesn't say to add a tank, but we will be...if nothing else but to catch any overflow like a regular coolant system.

In the engine bay. It is the charge pipe from the turbo to the throttle body. Usually there is 10 feet of pipe and FMIC up front instead. We opted for stealth and something unique.

This looks like a great idea for the SC owners as well.. would require even less piping than yours... Who will be the first to do it?

I need pics of the cooler with the fan and pump installed. You think there's anyway you could hook it up and take a pic Sciondad? I just don't understand where the water pump goes and how everything hooks up together on the intercooler itself.

Starting Friday night, I will be doing this install with many other mods to get ready for show and track in March.

I will take plenty of pics for this with the accessories and many other things going in.

I will have to fab up a pump mount, but that's no big deal really. The coolant lines are 3/4" braided lines.

I figure flow of coolant should be from radiator (cooled side) to fill cap to Bosch pump to (throttle body side inlet) of barrel, from barrel to radiator back to fill cap.

This way the pump is getting cooled liquid to pump and the coolest liquid goes to the hottest side of barrel before the throttle body.

Any inputs would be appreciated if something is wrong with this setup.

I totally understand now. But with the putting the much hotter coolant back into the radiator that also cools the enigine, wont the engine temps be adversly affected? There are times that the radiator can have problems cooling the engine under normal turbo applications. Add into that the increased temps from cooling the turbo and will it cause a problem?

I honestly dont know if I am any where near being close but figured I would ask.

Nice setup and I understand how it works now.

It's not the car's normal radiator, there's a radiator with this intercooler to lower the temperature more in the intercooler barrel

Sciondad.... Paving the way....

I'm REALLY keeping an eye on this one.... much better than mounting a black FMIC behind my stock grill for sleeper... I may have to lean this direction depending on how this turns out!

Impressed.....

ScionDad, do you know if ZPI will support this kind of work in the future for interested parties? I'd be all about this setup if it performs, when i'm in the Turbo market here in the next year or so.

HMM, I wonder if the Supercharger would allow for the piping like this to keep the piping shorter than with the one that someone has.

I would love to come up with a solution for us but I don't have enough money to get all of the parts for it. If anybody wants to contribute I've got a Bosch 110 BPV for sale, you can message me for details
