zpi turbo kit owners please help
Ok so I have a zpi stage 1 kit with an upgraded 20g turbo, This is my 3rd turbo with this kit and the seals just started leaking on this turbo I always make sure the lines are clear when installing a new turbo pre-oil it, I have a turbo timer. I run 10-40w oil. Has anybody else ran into this much trouble using the mitsu turbos?

Depends on oil temp 10w40 works very well in many boosted applications where oil temps get high - wouldnt recommend running it in the winter tho lol - i live in oklahoma and it regularly hits 100* in the summer I run 10w40 RP form about april-sept and RP 5w30 in oct-march. I usually change the oil twice in each period which avg's out to 3-4k per oil change

What is your oil pressure?
When installing the new turbo, did you crank the engine (with the ECM fuse out) to build/circulate oil prior to start-up?
Is there a build up of oil on your oil feed or return line? How high up is your oil return line taped intot he oil pan?
This is probably the simplest, but do you have a turbo timer or wait after stopping before turning the engine off?
Take a look at those and let us know what you find.

I have a ZPI kit. It came with a 4an oil feed line and I think that is too big. I went through 2 turbos before I added a restrictor to my oil feed line and the smoking actually went away. I did not need to rebuild my turbo at all. Now I think my original 16g is not damaged and you should defiantly look into getting an oil restrictor.

LOL actually I had a hard time finding a fitting that would work so I actually just used some 2 part epoxy and a 1/16th of an inch (.0625") drill bit and just made one using the adaptor that is on the turbo oil feed inlet. It was very simple but my car was not useable for over 24 hours. It may seem ghetto but it has worked for over 5k miles now.
