Anyone know if you can get the iPod wiring harnesses for the 06 radio to do a possible retrofit into an 05?

The steering wheel control interface that is out (most popular one is the PAC SWI-X) works with ANY aftermarket HU. The only thing that your aftermarket HU has to have is a remote control. If it has no remote, then it wont work. Basically, the PAC module learns what the remote for your aftermarket HU does, and it re-creates that when you press a button on the steering wheel. There is a little infared eye that has to be mounted (most of the time you can mount it in the dash kit below your aftermarket HU). This PAC piece costs about 60-70 bucks at any car audio shop.

I have a 2006 Scion tC. The ipod radio was part of my original order, to be installed by the dealer. After they pulled the original radio from my car, they realized that they had ordered the wrong radio, so replaced it with the original. Ever since, my steering wheel controls haven't worked, even now with my new ipod radio finally installed. I can't find a wiring diagram anywhere for the 2006 radio or steering wheel. I'm assuming that there must be a harness not properly reconnected or wired, but I really have no idea. I trust that a third trip back to the dealer might fix it, but I'd do it myself if I had an idea where to start (e.g. back at the fuse panel, behind the radio, in the center console, etc.)

I discovered what I was looking for at toyotainfo. Everything is plugged in corretly.

But, the steering controls still don't work. Is there any radio configuration to recognize the controls? It's configured for a tC.

I read through the post and I get that the Aux-In port is wired into the same harness as the steering wheel controls. I have an 05 tC and an 06 HU and I don't really care about the steering wheel controls or the iPod hookup, but I would like to use the Aux-In feature. Is there some way of identifing the 3 or 4 pins for the Aux-In connection and just attach some wires to those pins?

Has anyone actually put an 06 HU in an 05? i have the 06, and the Cover door has a cut out for the Volume ****. the 05 only has a indent for the large silver button pad.

The wiring is the EXACT same, because my 06 tC came with an 05 HU in it.

Just wondering if anyone had tried fitment with the door.

it used to be one big area, but they recently split them up so things would be easier. not all of the threads got moved to the right places. and if you think that a thread should be moved i think your supposed to PM a mod about it but im not sure
