Default Alpine IVA-W200 vs Pioneer Avic-D3

Simple questions. What would you get? If you've had one or the other, what things did you like/dislike about it?

Finally, I've heard that the D3 won't allow the Scion dash door to close because of the volume ****. Can this be fixed with little modding? If so, how?

Thanks!

Alpine. Being that I already have an Alpine HU, I wouldn't have to buy the cables to hook up my iPod and Sat. radio. Also, quality! Alpine has really good quality with their products. Pioneer is a little suspect. But the Avic-D3 is one sexy beast! I like how you can change the lighting on it. I'm sure if you adjusted the stock brackets that hold the HU in place, you will be able to close the radio cover. Tough choice! GL!

I'm not asking the question in regards to SQ, just in terms of the quality of the HUs themselves.

as much as you are going to pay for that alpine wouldnt you want the navi of the pioneer? all for the same price.

I currently own the D3 also.

I feel as if the D3 has more features and more user friendly compared to the alpine.

Also if you buy through Crutchfield you will save a bundle on the D3 especially using the 15% off coupon.

I got my D3, ipod cable, rear coaxial speakers, xm (w/$30 free prepaid card), and rear view camera all for $1007 shipped.

D3 all the way! The radio door closes nicely once you drill a few extra holes in the mounting brackets, it hooks up nicely to the steering wheel controls, and its NAV!! If you are looking for a good deal on a D3 PM me.

I like both of them. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you want nav all in one then the D3 is it. If you want a true SQ system and plan on running a processor then the W200 and the PXA-H701 is your best option. Also, if you plan on going to HD Radio then you will have to go Alpine. If you can wait for the IVA-W205 then it may be a diofferent story. I have used both and so far I prefer the Pioneer.

I am just hoping I can afford to get a pair of Zapco DC Reference amps so I can get some processing back. The one thing I don't like about the Pioneer is the limited crossover frequencies. My sub sounds awesome when crossed over aroun 63Hz and this works good with my components. The Pioneer forces me to use either 80Hz, which my sub has too much energy above 63Hz and sounds boomy, or I can choose 50Hz and have a slight null and put additional stress on my components. Not a huge deal but it is still an issue.
