Default Amp ground

I just installed my Nine.2 amp and I tried various grounding points. The amp will turn on and music will play anywhere from 3-10 minutes then the amp shuts off. I play with the ground wire and it automatically goes back on. I tried searching around but got nothing.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Currently the ground is bolted to the child car seat bracket.

Make sure the grounding terminal is touching bare metal. You might have to sand the paint off to expose the bare metal on the grounding point.

that is a bad spot to ground to.......I highly recomend finding a good spot on the floor of the car, grind to metal, use dilectric grease and a good ground clamp and bolt it to the floor properly,

Also be sure to tune the amp, gain is not a volume ****,and turn the bass boost off,be srue you have right size power and ground wires to for that amp.....0/4 would be the smallest I would use for it to get power and ground.

yep the floor of trunk or under the back side of the seat in front of the crossbar is wehre a lot of people mount them........

the place you mounted is nto really a god solid body ground, the welds do not carry currant back as well as they should and using the screw hole in a welded part does not give a decent ground, the NINe2x is a amp that needs a good solid ground, stinger makes ground screws, about $12 and can be gotten at stereo store or best buy.......they work really well.....now if that does not work you could have wire issues or power issues or ohm load issues or even blow sub issues......but this is the cheapest and first thing to try.......also give ED a call and they are easy to help figure out stuff out over the phone, they have built several Scion stereo installs with amps and know all the in and outs of the car......

Just an update, I called eD on tuesday and we went through some tests on the amp over the phone to eliminate problems. Turns out FedEx damaged the amp during shipping and they sent me one out ASAP without receiving the broken one back first. All i have to say is Brett and Alex at eD are awesome, great customer support.
