Automatic OBX speed star shift knob install question

Automatic OBX speed star shift **** install question
I only want input from people who have installed the speed star shift **** on their automatic tC's.
I'm trying to install the 8mm plastic insert into the shift ****, but it seems too big to fit. Anyone have any tips to get this in?
Figured this would be an easy job... installed a shift **** in my other car in under 60 sec.

Might be different on the Speed Star. Does the plastic piece screw onto the shifter post ok? Whenever I unscrew my ****, that plastic piece stays on the shifter post. Maybe put it on there and then push the **** down hard and start turning?

did you switch the bottom piece with the automatic adapter? there should be 3 pieces... the ****, and 2 connectors (one for a/t and the other for m/t). mine had them anyway. just a thought. i have a m/t so i didnt have to deal with the plastic piece.

Ok, I called the dealer I bought the **** from and after a day of researching the problem, they realized that the ***** have been shipping with the wrong plastic adapter. They said that all of their inventory has this same problem, but they will be shipping me the proper one.

I knew I wasn't crazy... I got mine from McGeorge, guess I'll give them a call.

i dont see why you guys are having problems.
their are three pieces like andrew said.. the m/t trim piece, the a/t trim piece, and the plastic white adapter.
first you want to screw on the plastic white thingy.. it cant really be screwd on, just jam it in their with a flat head screwdriver and hammer.. it works.
second screw on teh a/t piece onto the shift ****.. it is the one that gets narrower at the end, not a flat circle.
then you just screw it onto the a/t stick, and kind pound it on if it still decides not to screw on.
then the OBX logo may or may not be alligned, if so, it comes with an allen key so you can adjust it.
