Avic-U310BT Review and kinda a DIY
#21
I can take pics tomorrow. I will install the side pieces i got and have been meaning to install as well. Its an easy install. You will just have to splice the wires together from each harness. Just match the colors together. I suggest taking each harness and sitting down and doing it the night before so that step is done the day of install.
Just follow my pics or the steps in the manual and you will be good. If you have any questions call me 813-712-0667! It will be easier to explain things that way if you need help!

I had a U310BT before someone broke into my car...
but to answer your question, if i remember correctly, to set the illumination to one color only, you press the SRC button until its on Tuner, then press and hold down the joystick button and i think a menu should come up...itll say Illumination RGB or something along those lines. just select that and itll give you some options (white, blue, red, orange etc...)
for the time, you go to the navi screen, press menu, then itll be under Settings, and one option should be date/time or something similar.
its nice that your dash kit kit mounts it so far back...mine was OEM level and i couldnt close the radio door properly. i had to press down kind of hard and as a result it would push the joystick **** downward slightly...boy i miss my U310BT it was a nice unit for the price. my only complaints would be the low number of POI that it comes with, and that when you start it up it defaults to the navi screen. theres no way to default to the radio screen or ipod etc, just the navi. Minor details but still worth the price. definitely a good entry level unit

ohhh that sucks! I heard that the mounting kit is just a modification of the factory brackets. There is a dimple in the factory brackets where if you drill it out and use that as your mounting point, it brings the unit back so its flush.

Dude so sorry about the pics. I have been really busy and my wife has been taking my car to work and i have been taking the truck. i still need to get the side pieces in. Its raining now so i will try tomorrow. You dotn need to drill out any holes on the stock metal brackets. It mounts up fine with the holes that are there. The door closes fine at those hole locations.
Dude Mystik sry to here about that. Man they just tried ripping that thing out cause those brackets are all bent to hell.

Sweet looks good! Still haven't done mine yet. Probably will be after the new year. But I got the harness and the metra kit too. Thanks for all the info! I'm glad I don't have to drill out the stock dimples on the stock metal brackets.

it is ridiculously easy for the U-310bt, you ready? you take the parking break line(ligth green) and tap it into the HU ground line(black). its stupidly simple for this HU

if youre too lazy to bypass, just pull the Ebrake up 1 click...the brake doesnt quite engage yet so i dont think it has any effects on brake wear and it thinks the brake is on so it lets you access those functions (input address, change destination etc...) theres actually no speed sensor on this model i think...

Well i know for sure when the car is moving you can not input an address. When its stopped you can. Im guessing there has to be a speed sensor cause i dont pull my e-brake at stop lights.
But its so easy to bypass it so there is no need to risk messing up the e-brake.
