if the JL is a dual 2ohm, you'll be fine... otherwise, you may want to look at other amps..

but what Ohm load and voice coil configuration is it?? that determines wether or not it will be compatable with the amp

Ok, lets say I got 2 ED 13Ov.2 subs, which amp should I get? The ED NINe.2X looks really nice. But if theres a better one for less/equal money let me know.... Also could some one explain the ratings? Like this from the the NINe.2X
RMS Power @ 12.5v : 2 x 200 @4Ohm, 2 x 300 @2Ohm, 1 x 600@4Ohm

Also could someone enlighten me about voice coils?

RMS Power @ 12.5v : 2 x 200 @4Ohm, 2 x 300 @2Ohm, 1 x 600@4Ohm.
means
a lot of amp companies measure their stuff at 14.4 volts but a typical charging system puts out around 13.8v. so that 200x2 is a conservative rating compared to the power the amp will be producing. the 200x2 is what the amp will produce with 2 4ohm speakers. 2x300 is with 2 2ohm speakers and 1x600 is those 2 amp channels bridged and with 4ohm speaker typically. there are more ways to wire such as 2 2ohm speakers on each channel of the amp or 2 8ohm on each channel but thats the basics of it.

Image Dynamics for speakers and TRU Technology for amps...loud and as high quality as it comes. It is all in the install though. What the helldo I know though

nine.2x won't be enough for 2 13Ov's... you'd need a Nine.1 and the dual 4ohm VC subs...

Voice coils are what allow you to match up certain amps with certain subs... a Single voice coil sub has ONLY ONE impedance... no matter what, you can't change that impedance (measured in ohms)... with a dual voice coil sub, you can have 2 differemt impedances depending on the method you use to wire it... for example:

a dual 2ohm voice coil sub can be wires in parallel to get a 1 ohm final load or it can be wired in series to get a 4 ohm final load... a single 2ohm voice coil sub can only be a 2ohm final load...

If you have 2 single 2ohm VC subs, then the wiring style is exactly the same as if it were 1 dual 2ohm VC sub... you could wire the subs together in parallel to get a 1ohm final load, or wire them together in series to get a 4ohm final load...

Lets take your case as mentioned above:
2 13Ov.2's are rated for 600RMS EACH.
a Nine.1 amp puts out 1200watts x1channel @ 1ohm load.
So to achieve that 1ohm load from the 2 13Ov's, you'll need the dual 4ohm VC type. You'll wire each sub independently in parallel to make each sub a 2ohm final load, then wire both those 2ohm final load subs in parallel together to get a 1ohm final load. As stated before, a 1ohm mono load on the Nine.1 will allow it to push 1200RMS watts.

edit:
BTW- Dual Voice Coil has no advantage over Single Voice Coil other than it has different wiring options(which could be a disadvantage depending on amplifier). Often times people buy DVC because they think it's better than an equal sub with SVC when it really isn't.

^^ Yeah...that.

Plus, if you wanted to pick up the pair of 13Ov.2's at the group buy price, give me a call, I'll get you the package discount on the amp

WannaTc: just call Chris (Mandos) at the number that is on the Elemental Design website. He'll get ya hooked up and figured out.

richardsayzz: The only way to tell if either of those amplifiers will work with that sub is if you physically pull the sub out and look on the back of it to see what impedance (ohm) and voice coil configuration. It should say right on the back, but if not, look at the model number, at the end will be a D2, D3, or D4 for dual 2ohm, dual 3 ohm, or dual 4 ohm.

Well, the 15% on the amp, yeah...but right now we're selling the 13Ov.2's for $135 a piece + shipping. I can do the package discount on the amp, with the super cheap sub pricing

it is this sub right here http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=6

I was thinkin of combining it with the alpine m450 or m650 not sure though.
im leaning towards the 450 because i can get it for a good deal and im not willing to spend too much

or maybe even this amp http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-X40...ayphotohosting

what is your guys opinion ?

thanks!

In your post before this one, you said the 10 was a W3... but now you've linked a w6v2... are you POSITIVE it's the W6v2?? NOT knowing exactly what sub model and impedance you have could be detrimental to your setup...

I've heard good things about the Phoenix Gold amp that you've posted...
