Default Brand New tC w/ipod Can't Navigate Problem

Love the car, but the ipod radio is giving me lots of problems.
The hierarchy of menus doesn't work correctly, example: selecting certain artists ->all sends you to the top level of "songs" (and that could be a list of thousands to wade through).
If you get an album playing, at the end of any operation other than forward/backward you;re dumped to the top level again.
It can't seem to remember where you just were. Scrolling only seems to work in one direction.
Again every operation seems to mistakenly dump me back at the top level with hundreds of songs to scroll through to get to the next item in the list.

Is there a way to operate the radio I don't know about? I saw one other person on this board that seemed to have the same problem, but are there others? There must be a firmware update or something. How would I get in touch with Scion or Pioneer to get this fixed?

Same problem here, so I switched to an Alpine HU and the same thing. But you are correct in assuming that a firmware is needed, however, I don't think one exist. If you find one let me know.

while i dont have this problem, in general and over all, put all the music you usually listen to in a playlist like ashiva said.. it makes things a zillion times easier

I think thats the case with all IPOD head unit's. The AVIC-D3 and the Eclipse AVN 6600 seem to be the first i came across that should have full interface wth ipods. I am not 100% sure about the 6600, but if you watch this video they address it directly....

One word: playlists.

And make sure you have the latest iPod Updater.

Just to make sure i understand you correctly. When you select a song and it starts playing, when you try to go back just one level like to the album list you go all the way back to the main menu. Unfortunatly this is how it is! Its the biggest annoyance in the world especially when your someone like me with somewhere around 2,000 songs! Most often I just make playlists and play those. With the on-the-go playlists you can make one right off the ipod just hold down the select button over what you want (you do this of course with the ipod not docked to the car) and when it flashes a few times its in the playlist. so just go in to playlists and play the on-the-go playlist. I'm sure you knew how to do that just put that there for the people who dont.

I use some ID3 tag editor to group the songs in different albums (Music1, Music2, Music3 etc...) That way, I can just select any album I want to play through the HU. It seems to work fine for me

about full control, the 9800bt and the 7600mp by pioneer i believe have full control of the ipod (they make it work as if its a mp3 cd). and i also heard that the z1 also has really good control also.
