Default Cabin air filter ?

I just pulled out the cabin air filter behind the glove box to see how bad the filter was and change it today.

THERE WAS NO FILTER,just the tray it goes in. :-/

WTF. Anyone else have this missing on there tC ?

With a open roof like it has maybe they left it out ??

Just wondering,it gets one later today.

We have a filter tray but it comes from the factory without a filter.
First time I went to the dealer, the parts dept's computer showed that there was no part # for an cabin filter for a tC.
Cabin filters from other Toyota models will fit.
I think I used one for a Matrix or Corolla.

tC's don't come with cabin filters. you either buy one from the dealer or make your own.

Also the fram filter in the movie looks blackish because it seems to be full of a substance like charcoal MAYBE.

You could always take an AC filter, cut it to fit, and save a bunch of money

I agree!

Go to Home Depot and just buy the 3M Filtrete 1900 or 2200 24"x30"x1" and cut your own, you can get like 6 replacement filter for $20. Use your filter as the template, just keep some band aids handy and always cut bigger and trim down.

SCION didn't offer cabin air until 2009/2010 which was part # 88568-52010-83. BEFORE that we were using a 87139-YZZ05 but toyota/scion frowns on it DUE TO COOLING ISSUES(as per cabin air chart)

^This. I didn't have it on my '07 but do have one on my '09, so they changed their mind on equipping the cars with the in-cabin filter.

is a cabin filter really necessary? i mean we drive with our windows down... doesnt make sense to filter the outside air.

anyway, i just rejected the dealer when they tried to sell it to me... and ive been alright!

Woow....$18 for an air filter. I bought a roll of home air filter, cut it to fit, and now have enough for ten more cabin air filters....for $5.00.

Is there anywhere that this is shown how to be done on the internet?

I mean make your own filter?
