Default Can someone confirm this picture of a 2005 Scion tC Ignition?

I just bought my 2005 Scion tC used. Can anyone confirm if it's supposed to look like this? I saw that the 06+ has a Ring Light around it.
It looks like it's missing something.

I'm not sure but I think all Toyotas with keyless entry have the little light ring.

In fact... my uncle's Cressida from the early 90's had the light ring. But regardless, that is definitely a tampered Scion.

Wow. you bought that? The column was obviously popped and they probably used a screw driver in the ignition to steal the car.
You should check the title/car fax report to see if it was salvaged/stolen, etc..

I can almost guarantee it was. because yeah, that is most def NOT a factory 05 tC ignition.

You got a hot tC! :0

Can somebody please take a picture of their ignition and PM it to me please?

I checked Carfax and it was fine. This guy is really old. Maybe it fell out or something? I don't know? Maybe someone tried to steal it but failed?

The 05 ring is the same as the 06.... and the 07. So whatever picture you saw of the 06 is the same.

Either someone attempted to steal the car at one point or the person you bought it from lost the keys and had to get a new ignition installed by someone who did a pretty lousy job.

Or maybe someone removed the light because it didn't work or something, or someone installed an alarm on it and removed it while doing that?

Definitely some shady work, but it doesn't mean the car was stolen. My guess is the car was in an accident and the air bag(s) along with the steering column were repaired, but not repaired well, or the car had to be re-keyed for some reason.

What do the keys look like? Are they standard Scion keys with the buttons, etc.. like this:

2007 Key Fob:

I can't find an 05 or 06 key, but you get the idea.

I think that it was probably an attempted theft... you can't steal our cars by just hotwiring it... the engine immobilizer will pwn you within a few minutes
