I wouldn't go with a hifonics amp, I always hear people saying it doesn't do its rated power.
That 13W7 will handle a lot of power if you know what you are doing.
Also for RF don't do their Punch line, if anything go with the Power series.

Anyone else feel the same about hifonics? The price is so good, but I defenitly dont want to put a crap amp on a good speaker. Any other suggestions for a cheaper route but without sacrificing too much quality?

heres a forum discussion on that hifonics:

I think this sums it all up,
"all depends on your budget. the hifonics amps are hella bang for the buck, but if your willing to spend the cash you can do better."

ok well I think after reading that and a coupple other things I found online I might take a shot with this amp. I know I can do better but money is a factor here for me. I'll let you know how this turns out.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that sub is a dual 1.5ohm voice coil. If you wire it up in series you'll see a 3ohm load and in parallel you'll see a 0.75ohm load.
Here's a wiring diagram from our friends at Elemental Design:

from searching online, i believe you're only option is to wire the sub in series @3ohms. Thats because almost all amps (Even the JL 1000/1v2) are not stable at .75ohms. Maybe you're better off getting the 1000/1 since its supposed to supply 1000watts even at 3 ohms.
#56
Correct me if I'm wrong but since the sub is dual 1.5, wire in parallel to get a .75 ohm load. Taking into account for box rise and what not, would it not be more like a .9-1 ohm load?
Or get a Phoenix Gold Xenon 1200.1....does 1200rms from 1-4 ohms.

ok that sux cuz I bought the amp already. I thought I could run it in parallel. Now it will be under powering the sub if I wire it in series. What would happen if I did run it parallel? Would it blow the sub or the amp?

^ No, you won't be "underpowering" the sub, it'll be fine wired in series @ 3 Ohms with that amp, you'll have plenty of power AND some in reserve for improved dynamic headroom.
Don't try it in parallel, as it's possible you could damage the amp once you turn it up. That shouldn't happen, as the amp's protection circuits should prevent damage, but it could. Also, it'd likely be fine at low volume (most amps will handle lower loads that they're rated for...until you turn up the volume a bit), but then either activate it's protection circuit, or something worse.

Hey guys just giving a progress report here. I got my jl 13w7 yesterday and man I cant believe the shape it is in. I bought it on ebay and really lucked out. I totally expected there to be something wrong with it for the price I paid but this thing is in mint condition. I paid $310 for it counting the shipping. I also got the hifonics amp in, I'm not sure when I will get to building my new setup but I hope to start soon. I'll continue to keep you guys posted.
