Cold cathodes hook up
I want to do a very basic cathode install, now that I got some help I can order my stuff. All I want is one tube under the driver side, and 1 under the passenger dash. I read on the oznium website that you only have 11 inches of wire. to do what I want, would you reccomend me getting an extra transformer? Im not real sure if there will be enough to go from the drivers side to the fuse box or from the passenger side to the cig lighter? also read they dont reccomend you extending the wires??? I was gonna get some extra wire at autozone for this, but it reads like thats not right. Little enlightenment on what I will actually need for this job would be great if anyone has installed these. Also would getting an add a fuse be worthwhile? or is this not necessary?

+1 for leds, they will be easier to hide and you wont ever have to worry about them breaking. oznium.com sells flexible led strips.
I cant really answer your question. i extended the wires and didnt use a fuse then my transformer went out a couple months later. I do not know if my transformer went out due to me extending the wires or not using a fuse..
might the Oznium.com forums answer a few of your questions? They also have an outstanding customer service.

^^ i still enjoy my blue cathodes from oznium they are quite blue imo
To OP.
No you dont need another transformer. Leave the transformer in the middle between both cathodes. Then you can add some additional wire to the POS and NEG terminals of the transformer and just tap into your cig lighter. So you just need some T-Taps, electrical wire, solder, solder iron, electrical tape. This should have you covered. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

The reason why they do not recommend extending the wires from the transformer to the cathode is because the added resistance in the wire will cause the cathodes to dim every so slightly. After installing PINK cathodes in my girlfriends xB2 did i realize this. They are still bright as hell, but if you are going to extend the wires from the transformers to the cathode, make sure they are as short as possible, and use equal length between each wire.
