Try getting a set of Premier tsc-720rs speakers. They can usually be found on ebay for a steal! They're an outstanding set of speakers, and shy of about $600, I wouldn't use anything else. Put the mid in the stock door location, and the tweeter on the angled part of your kickpanel. If you're feeling confident, you can go active and really dial it in!

sorry but don't call your self a "sound quality freak" and not know what active means. sorry.
i don't know anything about that set of comps, just do some searching and see what people say about them.

those comps can't handle 200w RMS...seen too many blow on that much power. 125w is about as much as you need to give those. the SR6500's are a nice set, a bit laid back....but at 500 bucks, i'd be looking elsewhere.
what are you looking for in a set of speakers? bright or mellow on the top end? lots of midbass or concentration more on the midrange?

in a car i think accurate reproduction is all up to how good you can EQ the sound in your car. there are so many factors in a car that a really good EQ is usually needed if you truly want great sound. countless hours of tuning will be needed.
i am one that thinks you should be able to make almost any set sound great in a car if you have the tuning abilities.

agreed but its hard to make a pig into a prom queen so to speak
but yes you need a good source unit with lots of tuning ability. this means the pioneer 880prs or a alpine headunit / h701 combo.

Thanks. I just got done reading your thread about active front stage or something like that. I guess i'll have to start doing my research while i'm saving my money. I should be pretty well educated by then since I have other stuff to take care of before a system.

dunno where you found the seas references for 750 but yes that is a great set. THe last seas reference set was at 750 but that is now discontinued and impossible to find. the new seas references are 1400
