Default DIY: How To Install NRG Hood Shocks!!!

Hey guys, well since i was in town i needed a mod for my car. i notice that there isnt a DIY for this mod. I think this is a very easy mod if you follow my instructions. The instructions given was not very informative so here you go! Enjoy!

After pics with the shocks on!

Ok first you can either start from left or right side.

Tools:

12mm socket for the hood
10mm for the fender screw
A helping hand!

A. Start by getting all the stuff ready
1. Screw item 1 to item 4
2. Put washer on whatever is on top of it

Keep in mind item 1 connects to item 2 and 4, and then item 3 connects to item 5.

B. Prop hood open and remove the screw thats in place of the pic. It will be replaced with item 3 from top pic.

C. Remove top screw from the hood and place item 2 in screw and screw it back. Do that for both sides.

D. Remove pin from ends of shocks. clip shock onto the fender ball then put clip back on. From there ask a friend to pull shock down a bit and attach top to hood ball. Do that for both sides.

E. Enjoy!

yeah it was kind of dumb for them not even mentioning which hole u use on the hood. (top or bottom)

The only bad thing I see about the shocks, its strong enough to hold the hood up but not strong enough to lift the hood. =/

Can always replace the dampers with linear actuators and make the hood motorize up and down!

Will this work with a carbon fiber hood or are they too light?

they make special shocks for CF hoods, with a CF look to the shocks.

You should get them and let me know if they are strong enough to raise the hood.

ive been trying to get some of the oem denso shocks used on the hatch to use on the hood to make it look stock.
has anyone else tried using them or know if they will work?

the shocks for the hatch may be too strong for the hood.
