DIY Project..
I am thinking of doing some DYI painting for some interior pieces on the tC:
*gauge cluster frame
*vent covers
*door handles
*center console waterfall thingy
I will be making these white to go with the exterior color. Any ideas on the best way to do this? I've looked at other threads and it seems like everyone has a different method. Any suggestions?

Remove all pieces that you want to paint.
Scuff the pieces until it's dark....no more silver.
Clean scuffed pieces with rubbing alcohol or a spray solvent.
Wipe dry.
Apply thin coats of paint at least 8 inches away. Multiple coats.
Wetsand painted area only if you get runs or experience roughness (I used 1000 grit).
Apply at least 3-4 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. Applying clear and wetsanding it is the same as doing the painted parts.
Have patience and allow plenty of time to dry.
Reassemble.
Buff with a rubbing compound (I used Meguiar's Scratch-X and add a layer of wax to give it a nice shine).
Maintain it.
DO NOT RUSH, OR IT WILL LOOK LIKE CRAP!
Pictures of mine, color matched Flint Mica paint:
If anything, I might add a little more clearcoat later.
Will take day pictures tomorrow.

I like it A LOT! Get tons of compliments on it and it just seems to go hand in hand with the black dash and everything else. It's a really easy mod to do....but it's also really easy to f**k up too. If you're going to do it, take your time.
My favorite thing about this mod was getting the OEM paint in a rattle can from a local paint store. It took them 10-15 minutes to make it and it only cost me $16. A lot cheaper than paintscratch.com and automotivetouchup.com

Try to paint in a garage or a warm covered area. If you paint somewhere cold or where your pieces get condensation on them then you will experience problems with the paint sticking to the plastic and drying.
Resu- Oddly enough the place that I got my rattle cans from is called "The Paint Store". They specialize in all types of paint from around the house to cars, boats, and motorcycles.
