DIY for Reprogramming Keyless entry for a tC
hey guys . Well first let me explain the situation. I went to take my car in for a light that came on for my tC.. The airbag light came on and they told me it was a seatbelt fault... Long story short, When I was on my way home and i parked the car, I tried to lock the doors, nothing happened. I know my key is working because the light still turns on and i tried the spare. My guess is that it lost the code when they checked the cars comp. and re flashed it or something. I want to know if anyone out there can tell me the steps on how to reprogram the keys for the car. I tried searching for this topic but found no topics on it and the closest one I could find was for a XB or XA..any idea if it will work for my tC ?... or does anyone know how to reprogram it for the tC???

I believe you can do the same steps require to program a key on an XB.

they wouldn't have touched your ecu or "reflashed" it in anyway.
if you tried your spare and it doesn't work as well.. then you have other issues.
each key has it's own set of rolling codes, which the ecu keeps track of.. along with a suitable buffer.
excessive pressing of the key (without the car around) to go outside that buffer isn't common, but not unheard of... but at that point, it's just that one key that you messed up on. so having both keys not work? that's just unusual.
the xA and xB programming sequence are the same and are supposed to work with the tC as well.
the dealership messed it up? perhaps? then perhaps the dealership should fix what they broke.
bring it back to them.

u sure u had all ur doors closed? It won't lock if one of your doors (including the hatch) isn't properly closed.
One time... at band camp lol jk. Nah but one time i was cleanin my car and the hatch didn't close properly. I tried to lock the car and it didn't, didn't even flash its lights, I started to freak out cuz I thought the key died but when I pushed unlock it would flash. So i started walking around my car trying to find the problem and I saw that the hatch wasn't aligned properly so I knew it was open. Closed the hatch and boom. it locked.
make sure both your doors and hatch is closed.
