Dumb question...how do you connect a tap splice?
The black wire, are you supposed to strip that wire? or just leave it unstripped and slide it in?
Also, do you crimp down the metal part with alot of force or just enough to close it?
I don't even know why in the pic, they are splicing red and black together.
Anyways, thanks!

That picture is wrong. The black wire is really suppose to be the red wire (Unless you are using the black wire in place of a red wire). But you don't strip that wire, just slide the wire in and push hard on it till the clip pops into place (use pliers).
basically when you have both the wires inplace and crimp the metal part will slice into the main wire and the wire you are trying to get power to, acting as a bridge for current

no stripping needed.
stick the orignal wire in the bigger slot.
stick the new wire in the small short hole.
Get some pliers squeeze and squeeze till you hear the plastic "latch" piece clip
easy once you do it.
might wanna practice on two wires that are connected to nothing first to get the feel

Throw them in the trash and solder it if you want a good connection that will last I have seen more of those end up causing headaches than anything else. Unless I am hooking up something like trailer brakes on a boat trailer I will never use those.
But, if you must use them, dont strip as mentioned, just put the wire in and mash it together.
