Default dvd or satellite navigation system?

which is the better navigation system?

my dad's porsche has factory dvd navigation, but it seems very lame to have to put dvd's in when you go to new places it hasn't been before, and some places, like in western maryland, once he gets off the interstate, it doesn't think he is on any paved road. he just got a new set of updated dvd's, so maybe it will have more coverage, but then again, frostburg and cumberland is historic, not exactely new.

my gf has a garmin nuvi 350, and it is way better than the one in my dad's porsche, and even the one in my brothers new cls 550. since it links up with the satellite, does that mean it doesn't have to be updated with new software since the satellite feeds it information directly?

so when i get my indash navigation system, would it be better to get a navigation system like this:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dG9vu9Y...o&i=113DNX7100

or are ones that use dvd just fine?

If I could afford a spare house payment, I would get the Alpine IVA-W205 with the Alpine PMD-B200 Blackbird II. It's the convenience of the DVD Player and portability of the Navi that reels me in.
